AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jan 10, 2008 Clear amber color with a foamy, thick off white head.
Awesome, huge hop/bud aroma of a pine forest.
Very smooth mouthfeel with a medium to full body.
Great taste of grapefruit and pine sap hops with an ever so slight malt sweetness which keeps the hops from killing your taste buds.
A great DIPA here.
Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jan 4, 2008 On tap at Papago Brewpub. Poured a cloudy amber, with a diminishing off white head. Big fruity hop nose. Flavor is lots of hops blended well with malt and an alcohol finish. Very dry beer. I liked the Hop Rod Rye I had tonight better. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2007 Picked up one 22-oz bomber from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy copper amber brew with a think off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind a decent lacing and thin head. Aroma of sweet grapefruit and pineapple fruit, some multi-grain malt, a touch of orange zest and even some brown sugar. Taste is quite sweet/bitter, medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of grapefruit and orange zest, some multi-grain malt and lemon. Finish is just as spicy bitter as its flavor, a lingering mild bitter aftertaste with flavors of grapefruit and orange zest. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Dec 31, 2007 on tap @ papago. pours a hazy rich copper color topped with an off white head that leaves quickly. a lot of lacing is left behind. the aroma is sweet...caramel/brown sugar, pine, orange, grapefruit and cloves. the palate is just short of being too sweet. however, the abundance of hops does keep in in check. flavor is like a bitter clove stuffed orange dipped in brown sugar. finishes spicy and dry with a nice acidity. aftertaste is distinctly cloves and their numbing effect. medium carbonation. medium to full bodied with a creamy texture franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 24, 2007 Thanks to seaoflament for this beauty of an extra. Pours a pure and clear copper with lively carbonation, huge head that takes it’s time and laces all over and throughout. Smells of big pineapple, some orange and mild hops for a DIPA. Nice though. Tastes of huge juicy pineapple and a hint of orange rind. Malty and a finish of bitterness from hops but very subtle for a DIPA and doesnt linger or fry my palate. Very very balanced and delicious. Not a hop bomb but I dont mind that since is has some juicy fruit present. Medium in the mouth and ABV is non existant. This is a dangerous brew. Very tasty, drinkable and refreshing yet another bomber would leave me crosseyed. Had no idea that this was out there but would gladly pick it up if I saw it ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Dec 23, 2007 Bottle: 7 months after bottling. Amber, cloudy, good lacing. Aroma: Hops are a mix of grapefruit/orange with an undercurrent of spruce; caramel sweetness; detectable alcohol. Taste: caramel sweetness; hops aren’t too strong. Finish: medium length, citrus w/ a bit of spiciness. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 19, 2007 Aroma is fabulous, its full of a fresh hop scent and a faint sweet malt scent. Color is a solid hazy orange with a thick tight head that dissipates quickly leaving nice lacing. Taste is sweet and lemony. Starting with a bold medium body it goes down creamy, then the finish comes though with a sweet malt flavor and a very faint citrus taste that turns to a bright lemon with mellow hop flavors and a smooth bitterness. WOW this is just one of the most amazing IPA I have ever had. Its big, bold and rich yet creamy, bright and even a little refreshing. Best Imperial IPA I have ever had, and may be the best IPA I have ever had. Hudspart (371), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2007 Bottle: Good, but not exceptional Imp. IPA. For an imp. IPA, I expect more hops. While this does have an aroma and flavor of hops, it is somewhat mild compared to other imp. IPAs. Very drinkgable though. Not bad.
