COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. This newest Avery Dictator completes the "Dictator Series" joining the likes of The Kaiser & The Czar. Be aware that The Maharaja is a limited release only available for the summer. Welcome to his kingdom!

Aroma of malt, Tang, fresh banana, citrus. Spicy, herby hops and a strange, unpleasant must-like flavor that I consistently find in this beer. It’s bitter as all Hell, full of alcohol heat and not balanced at all.

Bottle that was old? I dont know. Very fruity floral for deep amber pour. Malty, very malty resin. A bit much.

Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma of pine, sweet herbal candies, citrus marmalade. Taste is extremely balanced with notes of light fruity caramel coming through with the big hop flavors. A sweet bouillon stew of an IIPA.

Pours orange amber with a moderate white head. Lots of soapy lacing around my glass. Aroma of resin, malt, caramel, toast and orange. Flavor has a huge malt backbone with flavors of caramel, orange and resin. Full bodied.lasting bitter finish. Really nice. A bit sweet.

Bottle, 650ml. A cloudy amber beer with a medium size white head and some sediments. Aroma is of floral hops, malt, pine resin and alcohol. Taste is bitter with a strong malt finish. Clearly this beer was bottled a year or more ago. Medium bodied with some carbonation and astringency. Aftertatse is of malt and maybe some orange zest.

Bottle. 65cl. Aged a year. Sparkling orangeish with visible sediment and a creamy offwhite head wtih intricate lacing. Intense floral hoppy, caramel, resin aromas. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Medium sweet with medium to heavy bitterness. Deep malty and hoppy character into a delicious hoppy and fiery alcohol bitterness finish. Extraordinary,

Above average in every aspect. Great dark orange coclor with slight haze. Avery does such great beers. Citrus/tropical nose , pours small head. Juicy dipa, not big on malts, pretty hoppy but roubded well balanced finish. Very nice imperial ipa. Not disappointing at all.

Aroma is dank/spicy hops, citrus/fruit and a hint of pork greasiness. The flavor is grapefruit, hops/slight hop resin, malts, light tropical fruit and a bitter/slightly oily finish.

Originally rated on 8/28/08.Bottled may 08, batch#8’ Maharaja pours a deep orange- amber body, with almost no carbonation, a thin off white cap left fair amounts of lace. Aroma mostly floral, with some hints of pine. Flavors of caramel sweet malts and citrus hops were nicely balanced, despite being over 10% a.b.v the alcohol was hidden well. Mouthfeel was creamy and smooth. I think i might go buy a few more of these.
