crowderm (154), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Jun 13, 2008 Pours a classic reddish gold with a, big billowy off-white head that leaves some fat lacing on the sides of the glass. The aroma is pretty intense - lots of very direct hops, mostly floral and tangy citrus. Some malt sweetness comes through and compliments the floral notes nicely. The flavor is equally intense - a green, peppery hop flavor hits the tongue immediately and trails off into a tingly, slightly alcoholic finish. There is some malt sweetness there too, but it can’t do much to hide the intense hop flavors. The mouthfeel is thick, sticky and creamy and is really great for the style. I’m very impressed with this one. One of the best, but most intense, double IPAs I’ve ever tasted.
douglas88 (640), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bomber bought at Sams in Chicago. Pours a cloudy copper color with a thick off-white head. The aroma is full of hops; citrus mostly, and some metallic notes. The taste was so smooth and very tasty; a ton of citrus, grapefruit, a balance of caramel malt and sweet candied oranges. Just a damn good beer. Dangerous, a bomber can dissapear very quickly. robforbes (639), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 20, 2008 pours a clear amber with a medium size foamy head, very good lacing.
smell is grapefruit, caramel, spice, roasted malt, hint of orange.
taste is creamy, light grapefruit, some sweet caramel, touch of orange, malt in the back, touch of pine, lightly bitter in the end.
overall there is no alcohol taste and that is pretty impressive for a 10.21% ABV. polomagnifico (388), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of flowers, honey, citrus fruit, and caramel. Deep red amber brown hue with an average sized frothy head that mostly diminished and left great lace. Flavor is caramel and flowers with honey and bitters. Palate is full bodied and soft. Just a fantastic brew. Solid from aroma to flavor to palate. Just lovely. Homer321 (27), Rockledge, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 bottled may 2007, so over a year old. still plenty of citrus and grapefruit hops in the nose. really good nose. slight smell of malt. appearance is a hazy light amber. flavor is goooood. nice balance of hops and malt. I would never guess this is over 100 IBU or 10%. VERY NICE.... MaltDawg (224), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bomber courtesy of Maniac. Big hop aroma of resiny citrusy hops with some nice carmelized malts and orange blossoms. Amber orange with small white head. Flavor of of piney citrusy hops with moderate hop bitterness and nice supporting pale malt sweetness.
Finish is relatively dry with oranges and hoppy bitterness. Nicely balanced and not overlly bitter. Alchohol is there but sneaky. Excellent beer.
