COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. This newest Avery Dictator completes the "Dictator Series" joining the likes of The Kaiser & The Czar. Be aware that The Maharaja is a limited release only available for the summer. Welcome to his kingdom!

Bottle. Pours a medium copper with a slight head. The head goes quickly, with little lacing. The upfront is kind of sweet with some alchohol flavors. Not hoppy enough for me, although finishes clean and dry. More hops would have gave it better balance and I think an overall better beer. I will try again and hope for better results.

Poured from bomber bottle into snifter glass. It poured a mostly clear orange amber colour with sudsy white foam, long-lasting with lace. Severely bitter which persists long into the aftertaste. Strong grapefruit and black currant flavours, not much else. Perhaps there’s a maltbill underneath there, but how would you know? Medium body and carbonation. Way too much alcoholic heat. A great big "kick you in the nuts" kinda IPA available everywhere, but I just don’t know how it gets such consistently high ratings.

Not a big hoppy beer like I am used to for the style but when I stepped away from what I expected it to be and just focused on the beer itself I found myself enjoying it more. Great beautiful amber color. Grapefruit and pine on the nose. Nice smooth finish.

had 22oz bottle. Not as hoppy as some other imperial IPAs I’ve had, but this one is incredibly smooth for the ABV. Really solid beer all around, definitely worth a try IMO.

Look: pours a light orange. Slightly off white head. Mostly clear. Smell: grape fruit. Tangerine. Slight dank. Sweet candy. Cat pee. Taste: grapefruit. Cat pee. Dank. Lemon. Tangerine. Feel: medium carbonation. Dry on the back end. Leaves a thin film on the mouth wanting you to take another sip Overall: good beer. Nice IPA. Hides the alcohol very well. Amber pour, white head with excellent lacing. A beautiful beer. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, floral notes, sweet caramel. Hop aroma is abundant. Sweet citrus and a dry finish make this beer a winner.

Pours a beautiful amber color with some head retention and excellent lacing. Smells slightly sweet and of grapefruit. Tastes sweet, of grapefruit and hops. This has a malty finish and is a very good beer. A must try if you can get it!

Hopmaestro (324) - Örebro, SWEDEN - JAN 28, 2015
Aroma of caramel, loads of sweet malt and an opressive, heavy hop attack. The taste is like being dragged into a UFC-octagon, whipped with hop vines, drenched with buckets of sweet malt juices while a couple of servants from the maharjas entourage throws mangos, pineapples and lime at you from the sides. As a finale the Maharaja himself enters the ring and serves you a rear naked choke hold and you tap out in the last second. Winner on K.O. - The Maharaja!!
