COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. This newest Avery Dictator completes the "Dictator Series" joining the likes of The Kaiser & The Czar. Be aware that The Maharaja is a limited release only available for the summer. Welcome to his kingdom!

Pours an amber orange with thick white head. Aroma is a perfect balance of hops if not mostly citrus. Hints of pine, caramel, and slight grass noted. Flavor is wonderful, matching the aroma with a bit of spice and floral accents also. Very solid IIPA and so very happy this is available easily for me. I believe it needed the 3 months to mellow also at over 10% ABV, because it isn’t a bit hot compared to what I was hearing.

Bomber poured into shaker pint and shared with Tim K. Orange and clear body with an off-white head that sticks and leaves lace patches. Aroma is citrus (mostly grapefruit), tobacco, honey, and caramel malt. Taste is moderately bitter with a touch of malty sweetness, centered around grapefruit peel, pine, hop resin, and caramel. Medium body, slightly creamy texture, average carbonation, bitter finish with a hint of alcohol.

Bottle from swedish SB. Pours clear dark amber with a creamy head that settles slowly. Aroma is strong with clear notes of citrus, pine and toast. Taste is bitter with notes of fruit and backed up by a soft malty sweetness that enda in a lingering refreshing bitterness. One of the most well balanced IIPAs I have ever had.

Flaska från SB delad med MrHult och Thaalcoholic i Observatorielunden. Mycket fin färg, orangeröd dimmig med ett schysst skum. Kraftig och gedigen, doftar smakar kraftigt av skog. Fin stor beska. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear amber color, big and frothy beige head. Massive fruity nose, passion fruit, pineapple, hints of grapefruit, melon and caramel. Grapefruit and resin taste, caramel malt, lightly roasted, moderate to high bitterness. Full to medium body, soft carbonation, warming alcohol. Rich malty and complex beer with fresh hoppy aromas, well balanced.

The aroma is slightly fruity and very bitter. The taste is heavy fruity, bitter and not too dry. Still enjoyable and not too heavy to drink. Wonderful bitterness that fills the mouth forever. The tip of this beer is enough to not drink it too cold. According to me it gets better when it gets a little warmer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bomber bought @ Systembolaget. Pours tiny hazy pale amber with a frothy offwhite head that leaves some sticky trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is smell is sweet with caramel, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, resinous wood, alcohol, kumquats and lemon zest. Taste is sweet and bitter with heavy caramel, grapefruit juice, lychee, alcohol, pine needles, grass, resin, overripe pineapple, orange zest and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky sweet, slightly oily bitter, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, grapefruit juice, pine needles, resinous wood, alcohol, orange zest and lemon zest. The beer if ofcourse old having traveled all the way here and waited for a SB release and it shows. It has however oxidized in a decent enough manner with no cardboard notes. Just caramel, grapefruit and alcohol. decent but would love to try it fresh at some point.
