Draught at Avery, GABF week 2009. Pours hazy orange with a small fizzy white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, toasted grain, toffee), average hop (perfume, resin), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of light alcohol, plum, apple, wood, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Crushed with Jakebra on tap at the brewery. Cool combination. Regular Reverend was aight, bourbonized is badass. Very subtle bourbon notes enhance everything about this brew. Very smooth mouthfeel. Pretty awesome.

2008 GABF week @ Avery. Slightly hazy honey gold color. Nose is honey and candy sugar with an Irish whiskey-like note, not the typical bourbon character but something more like Bushmills... unfortunately, a lot of the Belgian qualities of the Reverend are muted by the barrel aging, and the whole thing comes across as a mildly boozy fruit, honey, tea and whiskey experience. Body is medium to thin, little to no yeast noticed... overall a bit of a disappointment.
