COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

22 oz. bottle, pours dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of molasses, yeast and sweet malts. Flavour of candied sugar, spices, plum, black currant, cherries and a slight alcohol bite.

Avery’s The Reverend is one of the strongest beers I tried. I think the best part of this beer is its overall taste as it masks by the heavy alc.. percentage.

Reddish/Amber hue with about a finger’s worth of head that quickly dissolves as it sits. Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Ricola, alcohol, rising bread, root beer Very fresh - crisp, hint of cola, hint of molasses, brown sugar, alcohol, nutmeg, fate cocoa, tons of freshly picked fig, faint tangerine. I know this is a review for the bottle form - but I must say - better on draft. Thin - very drinkable, goes down easy - not much of a sipper - very smooth, light. not a session beer because of the alcohol - nice taste - not too rich. Pretty light for a quadrupel.

[2900-20100610] 650mL bottle. Fruity pear flesh aroma with floral hops. Hazy, brown orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Fruity bitter pear hops flavour has a long sweet aftertaste. Full body is quite bitter and boozy. Not 14% but certainly could have been! (Happy anniversary, M&D!)

Pours murky blonde/light amber with a small, quick white head. Nose is fruity with a little floral hops and alcohol. Flavor is also quite fruity, with the big, apple/peach like malt dominating the taste. Hops are pretty subdued. Finish is also very sweet. Not all that well balanced but the primary flavor is a good one...solid abbey.

Served from tap into a tulip. Pours amber with a one finger white head. Maintains excellent lacing throughout. The aroma was comprised of bananas and slight alcohol. The flavor was of fruit, malt, alcohol, and pear upon swallowing. It was light on the palate with low carbonation. Overall this was an excellent brew. The flavors present definitely mask the alcohol flavor but it is still present. It is scary drinkable which could get you in trouble quickly as it is quite enjoyable as well.
