COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Pours hazy orange with a white head. Strong citrusy aroma, very estery. Spicey sweet. Good malty taste. Some metallic taste. Bitter sweet finish. Everything is good but the slight aluminum taste.

22 ounce bottle from College Liquors. Pours a fairly clear amber color with a thick beige head that goes down. A sweet aroma of candies, yeast, some hops, spices and syrupy fruit. The taste is like a rich spicy Christmas beer, but with some hops, sweet candies, warmth, candied plums. Overall, sweet but hops give some balance. Hot and nice.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2009 Poured a ruby/orange from the 22oz. bottle: Aroma of sugar and some cough syrup, flavors of ginger and other spices, such as cinnamon. A kick of alcohol in the finish. Some yeast notes throughout. **The alcohol’s definitely present, but with more siggs the ale quickly becomes a fairly delicious, citrusy, fruity, spicy beer. Drinkability: Sugary sweet, yet well balanced. Rebuy: Yes. #138 on 12102009, DG.

Bomber->pint glass: Pours a dark orange body, topped by a foamy tan head. Aroma of fruits. Sweet taste, long duration. Very pleasing, but there is (for better or worse) the definite feeling that you’re drinking a high ABV beer.

Bomber from Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours a deep orange with small amount of off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts along with fruit tones (cherry, hoppy citrus), yeast, light spice, and brown sugar. Flavor is again sweet and malty along with fruitiness (I get a strong pear flavor in the finish). There is a definite noticeable alcohol in the flavor as well, though I don’t find it to distract too much. The flavor is quite sharp on the tongue, especially at the start of the sip. Interesting, but a bit too much on the sweet side. The whole thing could be a lot smoother.

Pours a nice orange/copper color. Aroma is of sweet malted grains, fermented fruit, some citrus/hop notes. has a beige head which quickly dissipates. Flavor is full and rich with malted grains, and citrus hops. mouthfeel is nice and rich. Aftertaste is a bit citrusy because of the hop presence. Good beer!

Bottle consumed in Holiday Inn. Deep red/brown pour with decent head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and Belgian spice. Belgian clone, tastes boozy, dark fruit, quite smooth, sweet. The guy in the shop raved about this but I cannot really see why. I am used to quality Belgian beers this is not up to their standard.
