COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Thanx to Chipalsa for the bottle share! This one had a nose of yeast and dark fruits. Raisins, grapes, some cherry notes and yeast. Poured out dark brown/amber color with an off-white head. Tasted like veggies, notably tomatoes. Also had some raisin and grape notes. Quite malty with a lager like maltiness, biscuits and straw. Slight alcohol and decent drinkability for a quad. Pretty good but not the best.

Pours a beautiful copper body with a nice white head. Aromas are full of alcohol, nutty notes and some hints of yeast. The taste was strong of malts and alcohol with some stale hops. Finished spicy and warm with notes of toffee, biscuits and alcohol. Not bad, just not anywhere close to a high quality quad.

bottle... light amber a bit of copper... very yeasty for a quad, spicy, a bit of dark fruits, no depth, blah but not bad... not a fan of the taste at all, very thin, sweaty socks, bo, a bit of rasins and chalk, very poor quad effort

Deep amber pour with foamy white head and lace. Aroma of dark brown sugar, raisins, dates, and a hinto abv. Super sweet caramel malt, brown sugar, and a nice abv warmth. Carbonation is smooth. Finishes with a nice sweet finish and a light bitter. A very nice warmth as well. Nice beer.

Bomber. Thanks to my brother for this. Pours a hazy dark orange with virtually no head; has a thin beige collar. Aroma consists of vegetable matter, earth, nuts, pineapple. Taste is sweet and meaty with a faint tart finish. Has a distinctive American piney hop taste in the finish (actually didn’t notice it until halfway through my second glass). There’s something about this that reminds me a lot of Avery’s 18th Anniversary brew. Definitely some of the same ingredients and/or techniques involved in the brewing of this. Carbonation is medium. Very good, but it hardly tastes like any Belgian quad that I’ve ever had.

Pours with a little carbonation a light amber and smells extremely sweet and fruity. Tastes of peach and butterscotch. Not super smooth but still very tasty. Alcohol is present but not off-putting

22oz bottle. Pours a relatively clear dark ruby with decent sized tan foamy head that sticks around for a bit. Aroma, especially on the head, is canned pineapple with some apple and spice, as the head dissipates the nose stays sweet but is more dark fruit, candied sugar, bready malt. Flavor is also quite sweet, but even darker than the aroma: caramel, cherry, raisin. Thin for a Quad, flavors are much more muddled and much less pronounced, and there is less of an alcohol hit than I expected (if any). All together, though, I really really like this beer. This is certainly not a beer geek’s Quad, which is, I’m sure, why the ratings are so low; but drink this without expectation and this is honesty quite delicious.

This American Quadrupel tastes like a hoppy barleywin because it is a little sharp in taste and there is a little old or vintage flavor to it.
