COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Golden orange pour with small tan head quickly dissipating away. Aroma of molasses, caramel, apricots and and yeast. Taste is very complex with molasses, caramel, dried sweet fruits, cane sugar and a slight hop finish. Excellent beer!

Nice aroma, dark fruits typical to a quad. Appealing color, nice carbonation, and overall a pretty good beer. Nothing special, but still pretty good.

Maybe I came across a bad bottle, although I doubt it because this isn’t the first time Avery has sucked.... Smells of stale/rotten vegetables, some sweet malt and cardboard. Tastes the same with a very weird vegetative-like flavor. Pouring it into a wide mouth glass helped a little but was still a chore to drink... especially being so expensive. Sorry Avery I really want to be a fan, and have tried, but you’re just not doin it for me. Go with a better quad. Weyerbacher for instance.

tastes of dried fruit including plums, cherries and very slight apricot. molasses and dark brown sugar linger in the back of the throat. would be excellent paired with some fresh grapes and gouda cheese.

Det allra första man bör fråga sig: Kan ett öl verkligen vara värt åttio kronor? Eller mer exakt: 1,20 kronor/centiliter? Ja, det kan det. Är The Reverend det? Nej. Det är inte de enskilda delarna som gör dåligt ifrån sig, det är helheten som inte lyfter till de oanade höjder man ändå har rätt att kräva från ett öl som debiterar en med tio spänn per klunk. I alla händelser gott, men i fler händelser icke-prisvärt.

Bottle. Poured a hazy brown with a fizzy tan head that settled to a ring quickly but left some light lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, malt, brown sugar, and hints of alcohol. The flavor found caramel and dark fruit. Medium to full body, sweet, smooth, and a dark fruit aftertaste.
