COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bomber pours a clear mahogany/copper color with two-finger off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is primarity dark fruits and sweet malts: lots of cherry, fig, raisin, caramel, and some honey. I missed the Belgian yeast I expected in an Abt/Quad. Some alcohol comes out in the warn and sweet finish. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Mouthfeel is silky smooth. A strong, enjoyable effort, although short of the greatest in this style.

Pours a dark copper color. Smell is slightly sweet chocolate. Tastes of sweet, roasty malt, cherry, fig. A bit of alcohol on the finish. Nice beer.

Bottles. I distinctly remember the first time I had this beer, probably sometime around in the summer of 2005. Definitely a big, strong, malty beer but not sure I would qualify it has a quad or abt as I think those beers are more distinct to their regions and yeasts and this is just a big mess. Way too sweet, lots of dark fruits, raisins, dark candy sugar, molasses, and booze. Kinda the opposite of a go-to beer for me these days.

Dark, coppery color with an off-white head. Sweet malt, spice, and dark fruit flavors. Cherry, fig, raisin are all rather mixed. Light honey as well. Smooth, strong, and full. This is a bold quad that fares well amongst the other American micro brew examples.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a red amber with a one inch off tan head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malt, caramel, yeast, wheat, spice, chocolate, cherries and some molasses. Similar, spicy aroma. Has a mostly full, creamy body. The finish is a touch warming. For the alcohol content, it is easy to drink and enjoy, but falls a bit short of being great

22oz Bottle. The pour was a clear medium reddish brown with a small (less than 1 finger) khaki colored head, which reduced to a large puddle and collar and possessed awesome sheets of lacing that totally engulfed the entire glass. The aroma was of toasted Belgian malts, light floral hops and a musty Belgian yeast with notes of candi sugar, molasses, coriander and dark fruit (black cherry, currant and raisons). The taste was moderately sweet and extremely malty with hints of molasses and candi sugar early on, progressing with a mild yeast presence, a somewhat bold fruitiness and a light spicy ending. The flavor stayed with you for a decently long while following the swallow, with a fruity spiciness left to linger on for a while longer. Mouthfeel was somewhere in between light and medium in body with a thin creamy texture and a nice lively carbonation. Overall this was a really good tasting beer, which had a good bold fruitiness along with a nice malty sweetness and a touch of spice, making it very enjoyable and easy to drink. Definitely a fine well rounded brew... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

Bottle: pours clear mahogany, sandy colored fine head. Candied sugars, cherries, raisins and a bit of brandy on the nose. More esters and cherry flavors with some astringent bitterness on the finish. Quads just aren't my thing but this is a pretty solid beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red brown with off white head. Sweet fruity and malty aroma. Taste is similar but brings out apples and wood. I like it.

Bottle. Pours a murky reddish-brown with an off-white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Sweet, juicy aroma, of ripe fruit, malt, sugar, yeast. Taste is sweet and crisp, of juicy apples, malt, sugar, wood, and a hint of caramel. Hides the alcohol well. Lingering juicy sweetness. Not as rich as some quads, but still tasty.
