COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

66 cl bottle. Amber colour with a weak head. Sweet aroma of caramel, toffee and hops. Great taste of caramel, toffee, chocolate, alcohol and some sweetness. Reminds me of a English barley wine.

What a beautiful site is this transpicuous mahogany colored elixir of life setting in my glass, the modest and creamy head all cutesy and light tan in color, with a silky coating of lace, to end the visual portion of the sampling. Fusel alcohol, sweet caramel, malt, fresh and clean, a superb nose with the start thickly malt, sweet, the top full and rich in its feel to the palate. Finish has a delightful hop presence, the carbonation delicate and the aftertaste quite dry. The high ABV makes itself known as a nice “Belly Warming Feel”, and a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste, hearty and robust and a must try for the “Bad Boys and Girls” in the audience.

Ruddy amber brew with decent off-white head. Nice piquant, spicy phenolic-inspired aroma with prick of clove and some cherry medicinals. Medium-bodied, strong, but alcohol is well masked. Cleanly phenolic flavors, again with some mild antiseptic notes and cherry and dark fruit.

The body is a beautiful ruby-brown, but there is absolutely no head. It didn’t matter how hard I poured, I couldn’t get anything to form., but it wasn’t flat. It wasn’t heavily carbonated, but there was enough to make it feel right on the tongue. Juicy fruit, biscuits, caramel, lemon, tea and butter all swirl in a very sweet and slightly thick beer. The complexity is pleasant, but the sweetness verges on being cloying. A nice alcoholic bite helps cut the sweetness a tad.

Ruby-amber colour. Boozy cotton candy aroma. Flavour is quite bitter with harsh alcohol notes and a sugary background. I’m not sure of the age of the bottle I sampled, but I’d suspect that it could’ve done with a bit of aging to mellow it out.

Dark orange beer with a disappearing head. Sweet and sticky aroma of raisins, fruit, citrus and tones of alcohol. Malt, bread and raisin flavor. Sharp and sparkling and quite alcoholic. All right, but would probably gain some after a while of storage!

Brown pour with reddish hues. Tan head and decent lace. Cotton candy aroma, which for me is the highlight of this beer. A little over carbonated with flavors of yeast, candy sugar, spice, and caramel malt. Slightly alcoholic finish

Aroma was of the malt variety. Each time stuck the nose in the beer got a different aroma, talk about complex. Body was a dark copper with an off white decent head and good lacing. Got the complex and balanaced flavor of spicy, sweet and roasted malts with an alcohol finish. Smooth on the palate a good beer.
