COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

22 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber(and this is a quad?) with a medium to large off white head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, belgian yeast. Taste is sweet caramel, toffee, yeast, with a full palate and an alcohol warming finish.

On tap at the flying saucer in KC. Pours an amberish color with a mostly clear body. A tad cloudy. Creamy off white head that lingers forever and stays very lacy. Sexy looking beer. The aroma is very sweet and malt based. Dark fruit candy smell, some corriander spices, and a very heavy molasses nose. Hints of hops and alcohol. Full bodied with an insane amount of chewy malts. Starts incredibly sweet, nutty, toffee then moves to a fruitiness mixed with the spice backing and sweet Belgian yeast. Finishes oh so slightly bitter with a warming honey taste. Has a good amount of carbonation, but a very flat feel if that makes any sense. Overall, its a quality beer, but not quite my cup of tea. The balance is nice, but I’m just not a big fan of the flavor.

Small and quickly diminishing white head. Clear sparkling orange color. Aroma is very sweet, apple, almost cidery. Flavor is also very sweet, apple, yeast. Pretty one-dimensional. Alcohol is not very prevelant. Full body but it does not really feel so towards the middle of the taste. Very sweet bubble gum-ish finish. Not bad but not great.

My 2nd time around with an Avery product. This time it’s their Quad. Fairly simply aroma, rather sweet IMO. In fact that hogs most of the senses. Appearance was dark golden, very clear. Mouthfeel was medium bodied. Flavors of brown sugar, dark fruit, malty and slightly hoppy. An enjoyable beer but not one I think to revisit. So far Avery really hasn’t shown me much, but I will keep trying.

Pours amber with a mostly receding light tan head. Aroma of apples, raisins, toffee, and caramel. Taste is sweet and phenolic with notes of apples, plums, toffee, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied and slightly sticky with lush carbonation.

BOTTLE: red/gold pour, white fluffy head. Aroma of yeast, booze, and maybe nut? Taste is similar, good but not exceptional.

Nice amber color, small to no head, very little holding power as well.Malty sweet aroma with a hint of spice and fruit. The taste was mildly sweet malty and definately fruity.Very sweet after taste with a fruit tone to it and the alcohol shows up nicely here with a slight warming while going down. This is not exactly my favorite but it still is a very decent brew.
