COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Pretty nice sweet root beer like brew. Pours a clear amber with a small head. The aroma has a nice Belgian quality to it. The flavor is sweet and spicy with a bit of pepper in the back. Finishes well with a lingering after taste.

Dark golden pour with standard trip/quad flavor. Sweet flavor with a medium intensity finish that leaves a pretty good aftertaste. Needs to find a bit more balance. Good, but a quad should be held to a higher standard.

(bomber from Coaltrain in Colorado Springs). Clear copper color. Medium off white head, which is mostly diminishing. Fruity aroma of pear, apricot, and fig. Sweet candy and bread flavors, with light fruit. Long duration. Alcohol finish. Slick texture. Moderate carbonation.

Clear deep brownish red pour sticky striped lacing and a creamy off white/beige head .... aroma is of dark candi sugar, dark fruits (plums), and some spices ..... taste is of deep dark fruits (plums), hint of molasses, sweet caramel malts, dark candi sugar and a spicy bite .... mouthfeel is creamy and soft, abv is hidden well ... finish is dry and the spice lingers ... good stuff for an american quad

Had this beer 5/20/2007. Aroma is a faint caramel malt scent. Color is a nice brown with a hint of amber. Carbonation is good with a thin but tight head. Taste is rich and sweet. Stating with a medium body it goes down easy. Finish comes on sweet with a malty caramel taste and very light hop flavor and bitterness. On the tail end there is a feel of alcohol that leaves you warm. I don’t know what it is but something is missing, it is way to clean and smooth. There is no fruity yeast taste like you find in a good Belgian Ale. They say they use an authentic Belgian yeast but it doesn’t Show in the end, I think they may over filter it.

See-through copper body with short white head. Aroma is fairly weak and what is there is sweet — caramel, candy, plums, apples. The flavor was filled with peppery alcohol that gave way to brown sugar, cotton candy and hints of plum. Bitter, peppery finish. The medium to full body leaves a sticky, sweet aftertaste.
