COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle Pours an amber ruby color with a thin diminshed head. Aged 2 years. Still a strong nose of etoh and caramel malt. There are good fruit flavors to be tasted here as well and decent spicyness. I shared this bottle and the sample i got i really enjoyed.

Picked this up in cafe/shop in Ribe, Denmark consumed at home with Craig, Stella and Loz 26-09-08 Pours mid amber with an off white head. This beer is quite rich and creamy in the mouth and very flavouful. The alcohol is quite warming but in no way harsh. There is a little bit of spiritiness on the nose, some almond and also some light spiciness, pretty good.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2005 Bottle. The palest abt/quad i’ve had, ruby amber in colour. Sickly sweet sugary, syrupy aroma. Maple syrup in there somewhere. palate is very sweet, and way too cloying and sticky. Some brown sugar and the maple syrup stickyness in the finish. Sticky pruny fruit, wayt too sweet, way to sticky, cloying.

Bottle. Oranish pour. Light head. Very fruity aroma with some syrup and yeast. Lots of honey and bread. Flavor is wheaty, yeasty, fruity, alcohol and lightly spicy. Good.

Clear ruby bronze color with light carbonation and head, some stagnant lacing. The aroma is rich with some dark malts and a belgian yeast strain. The hops are very light faint and crisp with some more creamy caramel & molasses flavors. This really has a balanced, somewhat acidic flavor, more on the side of tangy but lots of yeast and lots of rich dark maltiness. The finish has some alcohol with more spices and dark malts. Decicious beer for sure, this is a abt worthy of competition with the likes of rochefort and westvleteren.

This did not quite live up to my admittedly high expectations, and I am not quite sure why. The bitterness of this beer really stuck out for me, as did the alcohol. Still quite enjoyable but many of the complexities are lost on an even slightly tired palate because of the dominating presence of the hops and alcohol. Deserves a second go round. Cheers Radek for this one. Amen!

Well the head sure didn’t last long, but the clear copper/ruby body had strong eye appeal. The aroma is a fruity one, cherries and plums, with some spiciness. The flavor is very candy-like, caramel malts with molasses, hot spices, and alcohol. It has a dry, spicy, alcoholic finish. Not a great abt, but a pretty decent drink.
