COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Overall, a fairly solid quad. Some caramel and raisin on the nose that translates initially to the taste, followed by some flavors that probably come from the candi sugar, then a little bit of heat from the alcohol and a dry finish.

Bottle share at Evernote. Overall notes of honey, molasses, malt liqour. There’s a touch of something too candy / cherry syrup / artificial here that I didn’t enjoy.

Dark amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, light yeast, caramel, & some dark fruit; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, rich caramel, dark fruit (notably plums), raisons, and spice; Alcohol at the finish; Decent quad.

Nice aroma of your typical candi sugar and bananas, but the cherries were a nice touch. Sweet with Belgian hallmarks, yeast, and a little cherry.

Aromas of purple grapes, plums, slightly raisiny, some cherry. Hazy red with a mostly lasting white head. Fruity, a little sweet, great balance. Medium-full bodied.

Tap at CBM Jimbocho, Tokyo. Hazy copper shade with just a ring of bubbles. Aroma has a nice touch of red grape and brown sugar. Taste is similar with caramel notes and chewy raisin maltiness. Nice enough, but to me a good quad is a complex beast, and this seems rather simple.

Fruity aroma of cherry raisin and prune with clove like spiciness. Pours a hazy brownish amber color with small lasting off white head Rich malty flavor of raisin, caramel, banana and clove spiciness Medium full bodied with medium co2, lingering raisin like sweetness Enjoyable American quad. Complex enough to keep me interested but a bit swet ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It’s been a while since I found a different quad I’ve liked. The Reverend on draft at the Craft Ale House in Limerick fit the bill! The beer poured cloudy brown with a very huge tan head. The head laced nicely around the inside of the glass. The nose was sweet, with notes of sugar, wood, alcohol and light grassy hops. The Reverend was extremely delicious and smooth, with a creamy quality to the body. I tasted some light caramel flavors, along with cherry, candy sugar, molasses and light flowery hops. This is an outstanding quad!

Deep red pour, tan head. Great aroma of dried fruit and booze, flavor of belgian yeast, spice, booze, figs, and dark fruit.

Not quite the style of quad I love. Pours a dark golden burgundy with a thin beige head. The aroma has dried fruit notes with light bready and biscuity malts, toffee, molasses and leafy, spicy hops. A bit unassuming and flat in the middle with sweet fruity notes. The finish is hot with booze and spicy hops. Nice fruits and toffee malts. Not a great quad.
