The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Cloudy red-brown. Very immature. Light malt, berry and booze aroma. Very light palate for such a strong beer. Notes include wheat, malt, dark fruits, raisins, blackberry, licorice and twigs. Simply not bad.

660ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut!
Erm, which Latvian lager is this? Mashy and raw. Taste is the same, hot alcohol, thin and adjuncty. Crazy raw. Completely lacking in beer, at least as the brewed stuff. Mashy raw. Boozt builds up aggressively. Still raw and mashy sip after sip. I have a 7 year old bottle of this, I hope it is better.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2016 Bottle shared by Mart. Clear red amber beer, small tan head. Nose is fruity, toffe, molasses, red currants, sweetness. Flavor is caramel, berries, sugar, dark fruit. Middle of the taste to early taste is empty, caramel and dark fruits kick in in the very late finish and aftertaste, some hops notes and caramel in there, metallic notes. Surprisingly thin. Hides the booze well though.
