#666. I needed The Reverend for this one! Red-brown -orange color, big malts get sweet but not overly sweet. Big alcohol, can taste it going down the pipes. Darker fruits like cherries and raisins are there. A delicious big sipping beer. Heaven help us!

My 2300th. From bomber shared with my wife. Light alcoholic vapors, fruity in character with cherry wood and blossoms, craisins, and maple sugar. Sweet fragrant nose with some unfermented sugar tang. Light hop notes. Coppery amber clear body with thin off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy body, not chewy but not watery either. Carbonation is fairly low, but still gives just a bit of carbonic tang. Alcoholic warming on this one. Starts pretty sweet, with brown sugar, maple and cherry wood, alcohol and some phenols. Light raisin with some vanilla. Still pretty hot, this one, though drinkable. Finish is sweet, not sticky, with an underlying dry bitter character. Not hoppy, but not overly sweet. After is dull sweet with lingering alcohol.

Deep, hazy orange color with a small off-white head. The aroma was very yeasty...caramel, plum, other dark fruits, and a slightly sour character. The flavor was very similar to the aroma, but with a slightly sweet tone. The feel was crisp... a little too crisp for this style...slightly thick...dry finish.

I’ve cellared this beer since the week it hit Florida distribution, so maybe a bit over a year now.
Pours a striking mahogany body and a momentary tan head. The aroma and flavor offer suggestions of molasses and maple syrup, along with some mentions of caramel, toffee, and Belgian beet sugars. There is a nice and well-balanced arrangement of fruit and dried fruits in the mix, red apple, raisins, plums, dates and apricots. There is a gentle spiciness that shows up in the finish… black peppercorns and maybe a minute hint of anis. Very nicely done… a year in the cellar rounded things out in a remarkable fashion. The palate is sticky, with a hint of biscuity yeastyness in the finish.
Now that I’min my Friday night frame of mind… the cab is here… and I’m OUT!

pours out a dark red looking color with a small head that goes away very quickly. i knew what this beer was rated when i drank it, so needless to say, my expectations were relatively low. wow, what a disappointment in the ratings. this was a damn good beer that i felt was incredibly easy to drink, full of flavor, and once again very easy to drink. perhaps a little thin for a quad, but aside from that, i think this is under-rated. nice refreshing beer, something that i will drink providing they pass the beer law.

Hazy amber color with medium head. Good lacing. Smell is strong of Belgian candi sugar. Flavor is initially sweet with an alcoholic whallop half way down your throat. Alcohol wasn’t burning, but present with the candi sugar taste balancing. The typical musty/medicinal Belgian characteristic was missing from this one.

Rather nice, if straightforward in nature. Pretty brown with a ruby tint, moderate head fades away rather quickly. Aroma is of Belgian candy sugars. The flavor is beery molasses, with some malty bittersweet chocolates and mild hoppy bitterness. Quite sweet, but not cloying, and the yeast stays nicely muted in the background. Quite well done, good depth of flavor, but a bit one dimensional.

Pours a two-finger cream head that goes slowly and leaves some lace. Clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is spicey alcohol. Starts with a brown sugar and oak taste, hops are hidden in the background and the high ABV is not really noticeable. 22oz bottle for $6.20 from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

On Tap at Anam Cara’s Belgian Month. Dark ruby brown color with thin off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Taste is candy sugar malt with a spicy alcohol backing. Luckily I was in the mood for something sweet so it got a higher rating than it might have on another day.
