COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Clear-ish brown-amber. Small beige head. Yeasty aroma of banana, candy, almond nuts, & toffee. Soft, full-bodied feel. Decently complex, yeasty flavour of banana, candy, almond, band-aid, cinnamon, & toffee. Spicy, peppery finish.

Bottle, several vintages sampled at the Extreme Beer Fest, this rating comprises a mix of those. Aging only mildy affects this brew, only the level of spice really changes. Young, the spices stand out. Very sweet, minimal hops, medium malty body, candi sugar all the way, subtle yeasty flavor as well.

Tastes like a Barley wine. A little different for the style, but a fine beer. Godly? No, but angelic nonetheless.

Chesnut reddish brown pour. Creamy head with pretty nice lacing. Great nose on this one. A nice blend of sweet, bready malts and a touch of spice and alcohol. Very nice on the palate, for it’s not over carbonated. very malty, but not sweet. Light spicey hop presence and a touch of warming alcohol on the finish. For $4.99 in Ohio, this is a great deal.

(Bottled) Clear red-amber color with a small head. Strongly berryish aroma (cranberry, lingonberry) with sweet candy-syrupy maltiness and smooth, aromatic hops. Sweet toffee flavor with candi sugar, aromatic-oaky hops and some alcohol burn in the finish. Long, aromatic-hoppy aftertaste. Medium to full-bodied palate with medium carbonation. More like a barley wine than quadrupel. Pretty sweet, but otherwise ok. Not nearly as good as the bottle lets you think, though.

Plucked fresh off the shelves of Green’s, the brown bomber, with a red foil neck covering yielded a clear, deep orange colored beer, with a foamy beige colored head, and lots of carbonation.

The aroma was fruity and spicy with notes of oranges, apples, mangoes, pears, and coriander. The taste was pretty spiced up, with an up front hot alcohol bitter bite. The brown sugar, caramel, and dark skinned fruit tastes had a layered quality to them. I am sure with time the tastes would meld together, but I though they were a bit detached from each other at this time. The body was thick and filling, and the mouthfeel quite dry as a result of the alcohol.

Bold and brash, this should benefit a bunch from aging when the alcohol is allowed to hide, and the flavors open up.

Red-orange body with white head that disappears quickly. Some berry scent in the nose with spice and citrus. Flavor is sweet and syrupy. Very rewarding.
