COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

The appearance is thick, murky, plum-red. Head dies fast. Color and body are beautiful, though the head does evaporate. The smell is white wine all the way, and the alcohol comes in like gin. Sweet grapes and sour plums. Charcoal ashes in the nose, as well as nutmeg. Really complex. Gritty grain bill as it warms up, and another wave of that 10% alcohol. The taste is sweet grapes, perfume and rose petals. Heavy alcohol presence. Red apple and pears. Starts harsh and bitter. Finishes sweet and fruity. The malts emerge as the temperature rises, with a finish of dark stone fruits. The feel is severely thick and syrupy. High-density, like a red-wine. Smooth and oliy and big. This is a solid quad all around; it’s complex and bittersweet. Like a hefty red wine and a fruity white.

22oz bottle. Pours a relatively clear dark ruby with decent sized tan foamy head that sticks around for a bit. Aroma, especially on the head, is canned pineapple with some apple and spice, as the head dissipates the nose stays sweet but is more dark fruit, candied sugar, bready malt. Flavor is also quite sweet, but even darker than the aroma: caramel, cherry, raisin. Thin for a Quad, flavors are much more muddled and much less pronounced, and there is less of an alcohol hit than I expected (if any). All together, though, I really really like this beer. This is certainly not a beer geek’s Quad, which is, I’m sure, why the ratings are so low; but drink this without expectation and this is honesty quite delicious.

With a label that states: "Created by God Feared by Satan Loved By All Reverend Luther Tucker", how could I resist not trying this brew?! Oh what a delicious abt/quad!! Insanely complex but seductively delicious!! Definitely a sipper and will pair well with some beef dinners but it would also make for an excellent nightcap! Every sip is pure bliss!!! One last note ... this brew is cellarable for up to four (4) years!!!

I love this beer. Dark fruit in the nose along with alcohol, sour notes, and doughy maltiness. Sugary palate with no hint of alcohol other than the warming. Color is dark copper with an off-white head. Sticky finish. Very very nice.

I've had this acouple of times. First time I didn't like it much. Second, I liked it more. This time I like it even more. I tstes more like a spicey barley wine instead of a Belgian. All around, a very good beer. Prettysmooth palate. Excellent reddish tinted color. Some lace.

MY first quad and I'm blown away. Has a load of spices in front like salvation and is very smooth for it's alcohol content
