Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Very nice sugary sweetness to it. Like toffee and caramel. Easy to drink, alcohol extremely well hidden. Not much bitterness, which I was thankful for. Very smooth and tasty. I enjoyed very much, will get again.

From a bomber, copper brown color with a mild nose and flavor. some lacing, little head, very mild for the abv but still very complex. alot of graham cracker on the nose with a little fruitiness some light citrus notes. thin palate, dark fruit sweetness on the front, malty sweetness builds and intensifies on back of palate with a slight funk of soy/seaweed & almond aftertaste.

Bomber. Clear copper-brown color with thin bits of white head. Mostly sweet Belgian malts, dark fruits, and alcohol on the nose, but the aroma is pretty mild overall. Moderate dark fruits on the taste, a good helping of alcohol adds to the spicy finish. Palate a bit thin for such a strong beer. Seems like there should be more present in the taste, but lacks overall.

Bottle at Fins ... Thanks to Fin for a great weekend and some Real intersting beers ... Nice deep copper ... very vineous ... little plums and yeast in nose ... quite deep malty character ... again vine fruits and a lot of yeast and quite a lot of alcohol showing.

initially looks like a dubbel with its toffee clean color and full yet narrow abbey aroma. sugary sweet, warming alcohol finish in the mouth. there’s subtle dried fig and rose petal but everything is washed away from the caramely sugary alcohol notes that linger from the previous sip and continue to intensify. Tasty and consistent, sessionable and fun to drink, but at this price I want to sip and savor.

Bomber! Pours dark copper with only a white ring for head. Caramel, sweet malt and hard sugar candy in the aroma. Very sweet initial taste lasts quite awhile. Alot of sugar present in the flavor. Candy, caramel and molasses. Has only a slight warming feeling.
