jeffwilliams11 (253), hooterville, Michigan, USA Jun 10, 2008 pours nice copper color with small white head. carmel, dark fruit, molasses, malt in the nose. flavor is very dry, alcohol warmth, yeasty. some sort of subtle spice in there that i don’t dig too much, but not bad overall.
oberabcbbsok (679), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 29, 2008 Tasted 3 versions 2008, 2005 and 2002. Wow what a beer. Spiceses and a full mounth and good aftertaste. I hope i can try some other beers from this very nice brewery. JCB (1001), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 27, 2008 22oz from Whole Foods, Raleigh. Amber pour, nice frothy head, and an overall resemblance to Maharaja, at least visually. Sweet sticky malts dominate the aroma, with just a bit of spice in the nose. The taste is slightly boozy, which combines with the malts to make this a bit aggressive. Spicy hops make for a long, lingering finish. Funny, but it seems more like an American strong ale than a quad. rsamayoa (25), San Salvador, El Salvador Aug 24, 2008 At RateBeerians Tasting. Bottle: Religously good. Bold, complex, well rounded, ABV well hidden. emerica56 (454), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 22, 2008 This is probably the sweetest smelling abt quad ever. The pour is a clear amber with a thin head and some spotted laceing along the sides of the glass. The nose is full of sweet clove and light fruits mainly apricot and candy sugar. There is a decent amount of spice used in the beer as you can tell from your initial sip. The flavor is nice and spicy with pepper and orange peel. Overall the beer has a nice bitter flavor mixed with the right amount of spice. Drink4Satan (467), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours a clear apricot colour with a sturdy cream coloured head that leaves great lacing. The nose is filled with candy sugar, apricot, caramel, dust and light spices. The sweet fruity flavour profile is laced with hints of cherries, old pennies, dust, earth, and black currants. The finish is dry, aromatic and slightly metallic. The alcohol is very well hidden, but presents a flavour of peppery spice and creates a nice warming, of course. The mouthfeel is a bit on the wet side for a quad, being a bit slick.
