COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

(on bottle)Colabrown, semihazy, no head. tha aroma is pretty straight forward bock-nose; wood, figs, moscuvado and a ton of malt. Soft mouthfee, bit sugarish, not a complex taste, full and barleyheavy. All the way through the drink, the alcohol ispretty dominat. Has poblems detecting ay wheatnotes.

Dark ruby in colour, average sized beige head, some light lacing. The aroma is of light alcohol, caramel, light spice, dark fruits, some molasses. The flavour is quite malty, some noticable alcohol, earthy, wheaty, dark fruits. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes lingering, again some alcohol, mild sweetness. Not nearly as over the top as some of the other Avery beers, this one actually has some balance and is drinkable. Not bad.

22oz bottle. Thanks Moejuck! Served in a Duvel tulip. Wow, deeper color than I imagined and a very nice aroma when the beer is poured. Aroma is salted brownies and a spicy yeastiness, caramel is around as well as vanilla ice cream. The flavor is interesting. Chocolaty, tart, estery, dark fruits, and some of that sharp peppery flavor that I got off the Avery Twelve, must be their house belgian strain. There is an abundance of malt flavor in the beer. This is a ballsy beer, big and rough with a fiery personality. It tries to beat you into submission instead of gently leading you, both get you to the same place, but I have to say I prefer the more gentle route. In the end, this is a nice beer, a very American example of the style.

22oz bottle shared with brie. Pour was black with a dark red hue when I held it up to the light. This malty wheat beer is like a heavier and sweeter Aventinus. The clove and spicy yeast flavors are present in the begining and it finishes with warming alcohol like an imperial stout. This is a great brewery and I love this style no matter what flavor dominates.

Bottle. Pours a dark clear amber color with a fast disappearing off-white head. Sweet malty yeasty and slightly alcoholic aroma. Sweet malty yeasty caramel flavor with a sweet malty wheat finish.

Dark multi brown with a small, light tan cap. Aroma is a nice combination of spicy, fruity yeast, toasted cocoa powder and toffee, and some bread. Subtle, crisp hops also. Malt dominates the flavor- chocolate, cookies, toffee, toastiness, the same spicy, fruity yeast and crips hops in the background. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Solid.

Smallish head covers the dark chesnut hue. Pretty much a malt monster though far better than the usual Avery at hiding its alcohol. The wheat comes across quite understated, the yeast on the other hand making for an important part of the flavor profile with its phenolic clovey nuances. Beyond that, rich and round breadiness, powdery chocolate and approaching pumpernickel. Warming palate, rather chewy and avoiding the syrupiness I might have feared. Rather subtle carbonation for a wheat ale, but that works in its aimings for the malt monster status. And somehow not too sweet. Congrats.
