COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Brown in color with a moderate light tan head. Fairly nice doppel aroma. A touch of alcohol distracts slightly. Lots of fruit in the nose with date, cherries, plums, bananas all in a light syrup with mace, pinch of cinnamon and brandy. Full feel, with enough zip to keep it light. Lacks some of the lighter wheat qualities of a weizen bock. Mild cocoa and dark syrup. Plenty of malt to back everything up in this one. Dry malt linger that I enjoy. Too many in this style get to thick and syrupy, but this one hits many points without getting thick and sickening. Solid effort.

Bottle and served in my Aventinus glassware at near room temp: Mahogany hued topped by a beautiful creamy beige head and excellent lace. The aroma has notes of banana, prune, clove, caramel, wheat and yeast esters, and slight phenols.

Starts with a rich caramel and toffee malt taste with a lot of weizen-like character added in for good measure. Wonderfully balanced and not too sweet or alcoholic. Other than some medicinal flavor on the aftertaste, I could not find anything wrong with the beer.

Yep, I seem to dig this more than the average Ratebeerian but then again it is a style I wish more brewers would attempt. Should have bought more than two bottle! GET YA SOME!

Bottle. Malty banana nut bread aroma - heavy on the nuts with alcohol apparent. Opaque dark reddish brown with no head. Sweet walnut flavor up front with banana and clove flavor coming through next with an astringent alcohol finish. Body was lighter than I expected. Well blended with a very nice mixture of the Weizen and Doppelbock characteristics. A great beer.

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, mds and tupalev, my bottle. Deep clear mahogany-ruby with an average creamy tan head. Roasty dry yeasty aroma, apple cores, mild winter spices, very light floral hops - has a lovely burnt malt character, makes me think "winter." Taste - burnt caramel malt, chocolate and nut roastiness, hoppy and yeasty, hints of plums and prunes - long dark finish, bitter and caramelized. Thick, syrupy body, surprisingly light alcohol - long, bitter roasty finish. Really nice, like a burnt dubbel.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of mcbackus. Thanks! Reddish brown color with a minimal head. Very bready aroma with some banana notes. Taste is very similar with some caramel and nutty notes as well. Medium body.

Very dark brown body with some ruby highlights at the edge. The head is yellowish khaki. The aroma is chocolate covered cherries with some cough syrup. There is some honey character. The taste is milk chocolate with some light prunes in the background. There is some noticeable alcohol in the cough syrup finish. Something I expect from Avery. Man, this is a biig beer that slaps you in the face.

Dark dark amber color. Had to work to get the tan colored head to rise. Light aroma is sweet-fruity, yeasty with a touch of malt. Mmm. Thick mouth feel. The fruit flavor from the yeast seems to be the dominant flavor component by just a little bit. Next comes the hefe weissen wheat flavor, coffee and a healthy dose of rich dark chocolate malt. This is a nice drinkable beer. It leaves a dry taste behind along with a lingering and delicious chocolate flavor as well as a warm alcohol sensation.

Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Spicy aroma with notes of dark matured fruits. Flavour is prunes and raisins mixed with cocoa, spices and alcohol. Brilliant.
