COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Cellared bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a murky brown-black body. Small almost non-existent beige head. Chocolate, nutty, gnarley, malty, spry nose. Big wheat flavor. Bright full mouthfeel. Thanks, Dave. ’Twas yummy.

Bottle. Dark and clear, with a nice one inch tan head that fully develops after pouring. Rich, deep malt aroma, with alcohol emerging from the blend of coffee and licorice. Heavy and sweet, with a light wheat flavor over the licorice and malt. A little heavy on the malt, for a weizen.

Clear amber with large, creamy offwhite head. Hops, caramel, cane sugar and spice. To sweet for my taste, but good anyway. Needs’s to store for a year or two.

Bomber thanks to funkybrewster. Pours a dark unclear chocolaty color with a small dense very light tan frothy head. Hello acetobactar, brown sugar and acetic acid, varnish, alcohol, boooooze. Flavor of dark chocolate tootsie roll, vinous, great oxidation notes, cherry, light dark fruits, some roast towards the finish, the acidity is mild, finishes fairly off-dry, new to me. Medium bodied, fine fizzy carbonation, sizzle consistent with the infection. Cool beer, would have loved to try one a few years ago.

A nice bock to be sure. The Thirteen pours a dark garnet color with a brown head that has decent retention. The aroma is very malty, brown sugar, and some alcohol. The flavors follow exaclty--caramel malt up front with a definite tinge of brown sugar. The alcohol feel in this one suprised me since it is only at 9.5--but nonetheless there is definitely some burn when you drink this one down.

Pours a dark brown, with hints of red. Sweet aroma; yeast, malt, spice, fruit, some alcohol. Tast of malt, spice, yeast, alcohol; some chocolate and fruit. Liked the taste, more and more as I drank it.

Bottle @ Copenhagen Øl Festival 2007. Small beige head that mostly diminished. Mahogany colour. Dry fruit, fig, apricot, caramel, raisins. Full bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavour with some light toasted bitter notes. Sweet warming finish.

pours the same color dark brown as the bottle. it’s topped by a rocky tan head with some light lacing. this smells of dark raisins, yeast, spice (possibly from the abv%) and metallic maltiness. the flavor is lightly bready with notes of brown sugar, spices, dark raisins and cocoa. alcohol is welcomed in the finish. aftertaste is fruity yeast... almost banana like. medium to full bodied, low carbonation and a nice smooth mouth feel.
