COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Bottled - LCRBM2 - A dark brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is very sweet with lots of alcohol. Almost a brandy like touch to it. There are hops and smoke also. The taste is hoppy yet wheaty. Sweet caramel flavours and nuts. Very tasty, and a typically American take on a Weizen Bock.

Bottled sample via oakbluff. Opaque brown in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of bubble gum, brown sugar and malted wheat. Balanced chocolate and caramel notes in the mouth, along with some black licorice, berry fruit, and alcohol notes. Heavy in the mouth to start, but dries out enough for some balance.

chestnut color with amber highlights. creamy tan head with four large dimples. aroma is dark rum, estery over-ripe bananas, and a little dried fig. flavor sharp banana with a milder version of the usual avery fusel bite. this time it’s just a nip. while others think this is a lesser avery brew, I like that it’s not another vodka-beer. a little blackstrap molasses, and a dryish yeasty alcohol finish that isn’t too hot. astringent aftertaste.

Poured dark ruby/mahogany with a small fizzy light tan head. Strong aroma of raisins, brown sugar, caramel, european hops, and a bit of molasses. Flavor is strong and good, with notes of smokey molasses and dark fruits and a dry grassy bitterness. Finish is sort of off-putting, being a tad salty, ashen, and metallic. Alcohol is present but not overly so, adding a mild burn to the flavor and a warming sensation to the swallow. A nice weizen-doppelbock that could be even better without the metallic finish.

Rich caramel malt and banana aroma with a bit of alcohol and some spiciness, maybe a hint of nutmeg. Dark mahagany in color with a thin head. Huge body. Tart and vinous and very strongly flavored with roasted notes, banana, toffee, some cocoa. Definately not subtle. Could do with some aging.

Medium brownish head. Hazy dark red brown body. Papery syrupy malty aroma with caramel and alcohol notes. Dryish-sweet raisiny licorice and soy taste with alcohol and paper notes, with some vanilla and roasty chocolate. Rounded smooth mouthfeel with alcohol heat. Fullish body. Dry chocolate and vanilla aftertaste with wooden notes. Was told this was perhaps a bit past its prime at 3-4 years of age. (0.655l bottle, Oslo beer junta tasting.)

22 oz. Bottle: Sweet, roasted caramel aroma as well as picking up on the alceeehol. The color is dark brown with a small off-white head. The feeling that I get upon taking my first sip is exactly what is found in the commercial description: "marrying the complexities of two great German traditions." I taste a lot of sweet flavors like hazelnut, alcohol, and a little furniture polish. I also sense some dry weeds and mild anise in the aftertaste. These flavors linger for quite a while. Complex and compelling. Thanks Indiana_Red for hooking me up!

Bomber. Pours reddish mahogany with good tan head. The aroma is malt, nuts, grain, and a bit of caramel. There is a lot of wheat in the flavor, with some chocolate, some bitter wild berries, and wood. The finish is toasty and slightly alcoholic, and leaves a chocolatey aftertaste. Very interesting.
