COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

22 Oz. Bomber from Wine Seller in Alpharetta. Good stuff as usual from Avery. It has a year or more of bottle age in my refrigerator. It’s become nice and murky, brownish with as strong aroma of wheat and bread, dominated by malt but nicely balanced by careful use of hops. Love it.... too bad it’s gone.... one to fourteen and fifteen

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of dark bread, toasted and mild coffee, light notes of perfume and earth for the hops and yeast, with raisin and a faint spice smell in the background. Head is small and wispy with a yellowish white color. The head is fully diminishing and has no lacing. Color is a dark brown. Flavor is heavily sweet and lightly acidic to start and finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and bitter, and both sour and salty. Palate is medium to full, creamy almost syrupy and has a lively carbonation. It finishes metallic, lightly astringent and moderately alcoholic. Sweet and a bit of a thin feeling at the end of each sip, a some unwanted aftertastes were downfalls, but still a good drinker.

Poured a dark red with an off white head. Aroma of fruit, spice, and malt. It had a very sweet malt flavor with hints of fruit and hops. Also had a hint of spice in the finish.

Pours with an ultra dark brown body accompanied by a largish, creamy, light brown head. Good lacing from the head. Aroma is metallicy, with vanilla, plum, rotten banana, and some brown sugar. Taste is burnt malts, some fruityness, spicines, and then a nutty after taste with some yeasty saltiness. Smooth mouthfeel.

Pours deep red/brown, medium to thick on the texture, thin head (almost no carbonation), coffee candy flavor, sweet finish, sours on the long finish. The one I drank was very mature and aged quickly in the glass.

Overall a very good complex beer. It pours a dark brown with a miniscule off-white head. Aroma smells of chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit. The head quickly dissolves and there you have all of these flavors in a light, flavorful, porter-like beer. It finishes as it starts, but with a tang of bitterness. I would definitely drink it again, if I found it.

Rich doppelbock with a strong hop finish. Spicy and fruity sweetness amplified by a strong carbonation that brings the palate to life. Very heavy tasting on the palate, but the strong hop side of this cleans it all away. Quite a bit of excess alcohol shows.
