MatSciGuy (171), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA May 11, 2008 [bottle] Pours cloudy brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is soy sauce, malt, bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma. Nice, rich mouthfeel with the perfect amount of carbonation.

Good stuff as usual from Avery. It has a year or more of bottle age in my refrigerator. It’s become nice and murky, brownish with as strong aroma of wheat and bread, dominated by malt but nicely balanced by careful use of hops. Love it.... too bad it’s gone.... one to fourteen and fifteen Snojerk321 (907), San Diego, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a dark murky brown with a fizzy beige dome. Toasted malt, dark fruits and coffee dominate the nose while the finish is slightly bitter and tingles the palate. jcurtis55 (13), Plainfield, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 Picked up a bomber at Kahn’s Liquors in an Avery sale in May 2008. Got almost no head on the pour. Plenty of aroma still there, with fruit and bread both coming through. Fairly creamy mouth feel. The alcohol comes through in the aftertaste and that becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. It seemed to hit peak flavor around 45-50 degrees F, not a suprise given the ABV. I could only drink half the bomber. BDR (1850), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 18, 2008 A two year old bottle I had lying around at work. A very brown colored beer with faint head. The wheat had faded a bit to the point I barely detected it in the aroma which at this point was predominantly spices and dark fruits and a decidedly more roasted malt character than I’d expect. A very similar body which held up surprisingly well given its age. Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bright burgundy. Deep fruitiness with whole grain breadcrust. Very alcoholic, with a rich soy sauce character and again a deep fruitiness. Woody, dense black forest cake. Almost Samiclausy with a fat, warming finish.
