Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good for the style; a semi-transparent brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes of malt and mild smoke with a sweet dopplebock backbone. Solid on the palate. A solid smoked beer.

DrSilverworm (5051) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 26, 2013
On tap at Dutch’s. Clear, dark red / brown color. Nice thin light brown head. Decent wash of lace. Lightly smokey nose. Some lighter dark fruit. Earthy character, moderate smoke in the flavor. Hint of spice. Moderate sweet taste, not sure if it’s a good match with the smoke flavor. Light bitter. Bigger body. Lighter, lightly soft / crisp carbonation. Lightly sticky texture, but more dry in the finish. Interesting brew.

Tap at Avery. Pours a clear red with light brown head. Decent retention and some thin lacing. Aroma is smoky, wood, bacon, fairly sweet. Flavor is smoky, sweet, beechwood, with a lingering smoky finish. Not overly sweet, excellent. Moderate carbonation and medium body. A tasty, smoky doppelbock.

tgncc (2668) - Bellmore, New York, USA - OCT 31, 2012
Draft. The aroma is smoke right upfront, light bread, fruit aromas. Like a dopplebbock buried in smoke. The appearance is red, with a small off-white head. The flavor is smoke, fruit, bread. The finish is more smoke, lightly sweet. Pretty good. The alcohol is well hidden. But it really seems like an ok dopplebock struggling to get out from under the smokiness.

Draft at Barcade for the Anniversary with Max, Zach, Tom, Brian, Pearl and Andy. Pours a deep brownish body. Aroma is smoke and fruit. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of smoke, toasted malts, fruit, oak, charcoal, and some spice.
