Re-named BA Meph Addict.
Our very own Parker, of the cartoon and cat loving variety, created this cult classic character back in our 17th season. Appearing in several episodes under another stage name that was deemed inappropriate, our executive producers and editors decided that a name change and further character development—a 4-month Hiatus in bourbon barrels—were necessary to satisfy our most ardent and demanding viewers.

Syrupy pour. Big green coffee beans on the nose. Tons of vanilla, pepper, dark chocolate. Very sweet beer. Enjoyable but the original is still king.

Avery Tweak Batch 2 17.5% Got my bottle through a trade in Denver and was planning on sharing it after giving it time to mellow but now that it’s in Japan I figured what the hell, I’ll crack it. Served in my stout glass it is a cola black with ruby highlights and a nice head of beige that leaves a film around the glass. The aroma is very sweet, bourbon soaked bacon, BBQ sauce, caramel, cacao, and sharp boozey heat. Full bodied but with a zesty carbonation and a slick finish. The taste is pleasantly sweet: cacao, bourbon, maple, chocolate, etc. My main takeaway is some kind of chocolate biscuit covered in bourbon that’s they caramelized by a blowtorch. Sweet but never cloying this is really good stuff and probably my favorite of the high-ABV Avery beers I’ve tried.

Black color with a small head. Aroma is primarily vanilla. Hints of coffee and oak. Rough alcohol burn up front. Strong roast, rum, and molasses flavor. Some French roast coffee. Fairly strong bitterness. Full body.

On tap at Brewer’s Republic. Ruby hints on a black color, with a big, fine, tan head. Strong bourbon notes, with vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, and oak. Very sweet, with a roasted bitterness. Heavy body, astringent, sticky, and surprisingly clean in the finish. Excellent stout, with a lovely touch of barrel, without overwhelming a solid stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. 2014 bottle. Black with a light brown head. Big aroma of dark chocolate, fudge, bourbon, vanilla, cookies, a bit of soy sauce. Sweet flavor with chocolate, fudge, cookies, vanilla, and a bit of warming alcohol (but really doesn’t feel like 18%). Full-bodied, rounded, silky, warming. Really great stuff.

Nice rich aroma of fudge, black coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla and alcohol heat at the end which belies the 17.5% ABV. Pours a beautiful pitch black with a small brown head. Good coffee bitterness in the flavor with a bit of balancing vanilla sweetness from the bourbon barrel. The aftertaste is all bourbon heat, long lasting but not overwhelming. Smooth palate, slick with more carbonation than expected but I wanted to be a little more dense, it was on the thin side. This was excellent. I think it compares favorably to Bourbon County Coffee Stout.

Is it that good? Yes. Strong sweet balanced. Lots and lots of thickness. Sweet light coffee aroma. Very thick. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Dark espresso, hot vanilla and hot chocolate aromas. Warm with dark burning soaked pit fruit and chocolate upfront turning to dry oak and vanilla in the lasting burn finish.

This beer is wonderful. Pours black with an appearance of a cappuccino head. Aroma is clear in bourbon, oak, char and chocolate.Taste was more whiskey, cabernet, dark dark fruits, coffee, cocoa powder with even more chocolate as it warms....unbelievably masked alcohol for 17.5. A true delight.

Deep dark brown pour with a khaki head. Oily lacing. Aroma is strong vanilla, bourbon, coffee, and brown sugar. Taste is hot bourbon, coffee, caramel, chocolate syrup, and vanilla. Very warm on the way down. Numbing alcohol. Slick texture.
