Like the previous review, I am surprised to see this is rated so highly. Black of course. Thick and heavy palate and almost no carbonation, which is ok for an imperial stout. The whiskey is prominent in the flavor and aroma, and mostly overwhelms even the coffee. Sweet, some flavor of green pepper, and a little soy sauce.

Anyways this is currently listed as one of the top 50 Imperial Stouts on ratebeer much to my surprise so I figured now is as good as time as any to see what the fuss is all aboot. Well first off (to no surprise) this is a brash, boozy, very warming beer with a good amount of bourbon barrel influences. There is some roast and espresso notes but it is hard for them to shine. Light bittersweet chocolate, toffee, tobacco, and earthy almost peaty notes as well. Being barrel aged AND a coffee imbued stout the mouthfeel actually isnít that thin, but by no means would I call it viscous either. Unlike that BA abortion I had last night, I could see this aging into something more wonderful. For now it is a bit too unruly to be even a top 200 Imperial Stout IMO.

Keg at Churchillís, San Marcos, 14/11/14. Pitch black with a decent tan swirl. Nose is sweet coffee notes, tiramisu mix, brown sugars, light roast, booze notes, sweet all round. Taste comprises big coffee cake notes, light mineral tones, spice, chocolate, coffee fudge, earthy roast. Full bodied, oily feel - slightly cloying but not overbearingly so, sweet licks tempered with a little roasty charr in the close. Solid stuff for the ABV, a little on the sweet side as you may well expect from the ABV on display, but a solid coffee infused sipper.

Not quite as good as the Mephistopheles but still a wonderful beer. Loses something with the extra coffee. A little more syrupy and thick, more oil. Some light barrel in here. Black pour with great mocha head and lacing. Milk sweet chocolate here and a sweeter finish. Some booze, and still a lot of bitterness even with the note of sweetness. Tap at Churchkey Avery event.

Pours a dark brown with a caramel colored lacing. The aroma is predominantly coffee, chocolate and soy sauce. Finishes with some notable alcohol, but not compared to the ABV

(Backlog) Draft at avery event at blind tiger. #300 imperial stout. Black pour with tan head. Huge roasted, and coffee dominated aroma. Flavors are dark roasted coffee, some lighter dark malts and a bit of warmth.

On tap at extreme beer feat. Really potent coffee nose with bready malts and cocoa. Taste is very sweet and heavy coffee. Intense but pretty good.

From a tap at Ale Arsenal. The pour was black with a strong coffee aroma which the beer had also a big coffee taste and a thick body.* *Lost my notes for this beer today and tried to rate this beer soon as possible from memory.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2014 Tap at the Ale Arsenal 2nd Anniversary. Pour is opaque black, small tan head, creamy and long lasting, great lacing. Aroma is heavy coffee, mocha, not much room for anything else. Flavor is medium sweet, heavy coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, medium bitter, some acidity. Full body, rich and creamy, hot. Kinda too hot, but still worth the experience.

2012 15.4% abv. Black in color with a good amount of deep tan head, very good lacing and a thick collar. Aroma is deep malt, coffee, earthy woodiness and some bourbon. I would swear this is barrel aged. Maybe it is... Taste is that great malt up front, coffee and tobacco at the end with a aged hop flavor in the middle. Great thick mouthfeel, chewy almost. Low carbonation. Great coffee stout, but I feel like the coffee was a bit too much of the focus.
