Tap at Capones. Pours a deep black with a smaller creamy tan head that laced. Aroma of freshly ground espresso beans, vanilla, caramel, toffee, vanilla and roasted malt. Flavor of rich sweet espresso, caramel, roasted malt and dark fruits.

On tap at Caponeís. Dark brown pour with a small sized off white head. Coffee, roast, some dark fruits, grounds, licorice, and some vanilla. Very nice coffee presence - which for me, is a huge plus in a coffee beer! Over all the alcohol, for 15%+, well hidden. Very nice.

On tap at Capones. Dark brown with a thin tan ring. Nose is coffee bean, mostly, some licorice and alcohol. Medium body with a faint tingle. Taste is coffee bean, molasses, dark chocolate and heat. Maybe the most pronounced coffee brew iíve tried. Shocked that the coffee even dominates the huge Meph base.

Draught at Churchkey for the Avery tap takeover! Uber black viscous pour with a dense brown head. Nose holds HUGE espresso, dark chocolate ganache, and some boozy heat; a decadent and luxurious combination of sweet chocolate and very prevalent coffee and roasted bitterness. The flavor brings more chocolate and coffee; just huge. Palate hides the booze extraordinarily well; reminds me of Double Black, though obviously not as alcoholic and not quite as complex. Still, world class.

Draft courtesy of the Churchkey crew, thank you gentlemen! Very dark brown color, small brown edge head. Aroma of a coffee shooter. Taste is coffee!!! and booze, and some other word I canít read in my notes. Good stuff anyway.

Thanks craftycarl21! This snifter poured about as black as beer can be, with a rich and frothy tan head that sits atop its foreboding body. The aroma has so much coffee character itís unbelievable. Upon taking my first whiff, I turned to Carl and said, "this smells exactly like Starbucks mocha ice cream." And it did. A bit of hotness in the back with ever present chocolate, espresso, roasted barley, mocha, and creamy cocoa. The palate is ultra rich and thick with tiny little caressing bubbles making for a velvety texture. Amazing!

4oz pour at Churchkey is an oily, opaque black with one ring of cloudy brown head. Big, sweet, coffee nose, brown sugar, light vanilla, toast, licorice, a little boozy, molasses, Godiva chocolate. Flavor is sweet, licorice, toast, molasses, dark malt, coffee grounds, malt powder, chocolate liqueur. Full bodied, boozy, slightly hot finish.

Tap 2010 ed at Churchkey thanks to myself and Travlr. A deep sepia, blood ruby pour generates a thicker, coffee mocha head with sheen appearance and swathes of lace. Nose is quite impressive: massive amounts of creamy espresso, huge hazelnut coffee presence, thick tiramisu, lots of tiramisu cocoa dust, mild hazelnut liquor/Frangelico. One of the most intense coffee noses Iíve experienced that somehow does not remind me of chili or baked veggies/DMS. Quite impressive. Iím giving it an 8/10 but coffee lovers would probably have a freak out. Taste up front is huge spicy alcohol- a giant smack of warming booze and almost hot peppers makes you take notice this is 15% abv even though this is over a year old and partially mellowed out. Thankfully, hot alcohol subsides nicely for more tiramisu character with lots of cocoa dust, intense coffee everywhere, creamy espresso, soaked ladyfingers. Palate is quite the highlight: super rich, creamy, very easy to enjoy. Very light bitterness and no residual sweetness. Probably the most intense coffee beer Iíve ever had that I actually like. No coffee acidity, no lemon, no grittiness, no dirt/ash. Really delicious. Probably made with some baller coffee.

Pour is pitch black with a small tan head. Nose is of all kinds of coffee mostly. The taste is very much the same, with some slight chocolate hints as well.

On tap at Avery. Pours with a pitch black hue and a lasting tan head. Ridiculous lace for the ABV. Glass coating. Aromas are rich, big, coffee, boozy (really a lot of alcohol), dark fruit and roast. Flavors are bitter, tar, fudge, chocolate, boozy and a bit of acrid roast. Very very boozy and very roasty. Big thick and hot with low carbonation. Tasty is small doses but can get a bit hard to drink.
