Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of coffee, malt, vanilla, roasting, cream, and lactose. Poured pitch black in color with a medium-sized, dark brow, creamy, dense head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, coffee, cream, roasting, sugar, and slight chocolate. Full body. Slick, viscous texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malt, coffee, cream, vanilla, light chocolate finish. 15.5%ABV is dangerously well hidden throughout.

Pours pitch black with a medium mocha head...nice lacing and retention...looks thick. Aroma of fresh coffee...bold and roasty...smells like a coffee shop! Flavor follows suit...bold and roasty coffee...bit of syrupy coffee sweetness...some roasty burnt notes too. Mouthfeel is full and sticky...finish has coffee and some burnt roasty notes...warming and lingering. Excellent beer for a coffe junkie like me!

Rich aroma of roasted chocolate and super thick coffee notes cut in the nose. Pours thick dark black oil in color with an awesome caramel creamy head. The flavor has more coffee than any other beer I have ever tasted. Nice roasted malty notes complement a thick but smooth body. It is incredible how there are no notes of alcohol at all!

On tap at Capone’s. Dark brown pour with a small sized off white head. Coffee, roast, some dark fruits, grounds, licorice, and some vanilla. Very nice coffee presence - which for me, is a huge plus in a coffee beer! Over all the alcohol, for 15%+, well hidden. Very nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Capones. Dark brown with a thin tan ring. Nose is coffee bean, mostly, some licorice and alcohol. Medium body with a faint tingle. Taste is coffee bean, molasses, dark chocolate and heat. Maybe the most pronounced coffee brew i’ve tried. Shocked that the coffee even dominates the huge Meph base.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught at Churchkey for the Avery tap takeover! Uber black viscous pour with a dense brown head. Nose holds HUGE espresso, dark chocolate ganache, and some boozy heat; a decadent and luxurious combination of sweet chocolate and very prevalent coffee and roasted bitterness. The flavor brings more chocolate and coffee; just huge. Palate hides the booze extraordinarily well; reminds me of Double Black, though obviously not as alcoholic and not quite as complex. Still, world class.

Draft courtesy of the Churchkey crew, thank you gentlemen! Very dark brown color, small brown edge head. Aroma of a coffee shooter. Taste is coffee!!! and booze, and some other word I can’t read in my notes. Good stuff anyway.
