COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Bottled feb 2014... Pitch black in color with dark mahogany brown head... Aroma of dark fruits, raisins, plums, dark chocolate, anise, vanilla and bourbon... Flavor is amazingly good, notes of dark fruits, raisins, dark chocolate, licorice, bourbon and vanilla... Cocoa bitterness and heat on palate... Amazingly good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

June 27 2013 bottle at home. Poured black and thick, with a dark brown head of foam. Aroma is molasses and whiskey. Tastes like alcohol, molasses, bourbon and licorice. Palate is thick and creamy. Long spicy, woody finish.

First off, this was a huge bonus sent my way by JohnGalt1, straight off my want list. Super stoked to get to try this, many thanks. Bottle, 2012 release: Pours a very dark brown, near black and is topped with a thick finger of brown head that quickly dies back. As soon as I popped the cap, the aroma permeates the room. It is hugely sweet, dark fruits and molasses, with a healthy amount of influence from the bourbon barrels. Taste is sweeter than expected, but consistent with the nose. Molasses, dark fruits, and bourbon barrel. Some chocolate. I can sense the high ABV, but it’s well hidden. Silky smooth and a great finish… warms the lips. The only detriment is the all-encompassing sweetness, at least for my taste.

[6284-20140420] Bottle. Meaty charred wet bread aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting brown head. Sugary sweet roasted flavour has a long rich soya sauce aftertaste. Full body. Very tasty but super roasted. (8/4/8/4/16) 4.0

A monstrous beer. Incredibly smooth and drinkable considering the alcohol. Lots of bourbon but also chocolate, coconut and char.

Poured black with no head. Stron sweet aroma of alcohol, bourbon, molasses, and fruit. Flavor is an intense syrupy sweetness set against a mellow bourbon background. Not cloying or anything, this really works and is a very coherent, complex flavor. No real heat on this despite the abv. Mouthfeel is thick with a beautiful light carbonation. This is really good.

Täysin vaahdoton tapaus, huumaava tuoksu. Peruskahvinen perustuoksu. Musta, mutta ei pikimusta. Alkoholi p0tkaisee karmivavasti tässä vaiheessa iltaa. Alkoholi pelastaa tai turmelee. joo elikkäs. Juuh elikkäs.

12 oz bottle. Bottled Jun/2013. From a trade with jcnielsen. Thanks a lot Justin! Enjoyed at the ISKTR 2014. Black colour with no head. The aroma is vinous with roasted malt, mild vinegar and ashy dryness. The flavour is roasted malt, sweetness, ashy notes and dryness. Very strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
