4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Pours dark black with almost no head. Rich malty boozy aroma. Strong bourbon flavor with some molasses and faint dark fruit. Really amazing beer. Gets more boozy as it warms.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Murky, muddy brown-black with a large-bubbled head of milk chocolate. Sugary, tangy aroma: dark cherry, molasses, butterscotch, blackberry, maple, vanilla, dulce le leche. Fruitier than expected. The flavor replicates this bouquet, with dark chocolate covered maraschino cherries, dark berries, maple, vanilla, oak and a hint of burnt toast. Itís an incredible blend, and the alcohol is negligible. Mild, tingly carbonation. Some alcohol heat is noticeable, naturally. Creamy medium-full body is a bit oily and sticks on the tongue. Nice berry flavors in this one -- itís fruitier and tangier than I expected, which is what makes it great. Very smooth.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A lot of bourbon and sweet. Very strong and heavy. You get roasted malt and dark chocolate mostly. But there definitely is coffee there as well as some fruit flavors that are somewhat surprising and almost hard to find even. I love the bourbon barrel beers and this one is outstanding.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - well, itís very bourbon, which overwhelms the stout. Itís very good, but not balanced between the beer and the bourbon.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from wine and cheese place. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Lots of lacing in the glass. Big bourbon on the nose. Huge malt notes on the tongue along with the bourbon. My temperature has increased 3 degrees since the first sip. Not the least bit subtle and hangs around long after I swallowed. Very bitter on the finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The definition of Big Beer. And this works. Usually at this ABV level, Iím all "meh." However, this one is syrupy smooth, with a flavor to match the ABV.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from the Howler(32oz), black brew, minimal head of tan foam that leaves the scene quickly. Cost, $25.99
Nose tells me thereís a lot of Bourbon, roasted malt, dark chocolate, pitted fruit, some coffee. Smells uber strong.
Bourbon, chocolate, and roasted malt envelop my palate. With a bit of nudging, the dark fruit..plums & raisins, come out to play. The coffee I mentioned is very very light, err, perhaps Iím not getting any at all; the other flavours are THAT strong and THAT dominant.
The body is on the high end of medium, carbonation checks in as fairly light but thereís no mistaking this brew as flat.
Powerful brewski here and though the taste isnít as "hot" as it could be, once it goes down the hatch, it brings a heck of a lot of warming.
As much as I love this beer, I donít feel the need to get more...
