Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Bottle. Appearance: oily black with very small dark mocha head that dissipates quickly to almost nothing. Aroma: big dark chocolates, deep roasted malts, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, no bourbon or booziness really at all. Taste: sweet dark fruitiness up front with bitter dark chocolate coming in and very sweet molasses, vanilla, and bourbon notes in the end and a sugary and coffee bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel: very creamy and slick thick with very little carbonation. Overall: the alcohol doesn't announce itself like you might expect. The sweetness is a bit heavy, but I think that's where the bourbon and booze is shining through. Looking forward to trying again with some age. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2015 Excellent sipping stout! Slides thickly out of the bottle, black as used oil. The aroma tells the whole story...chocolate, vanilla bourbon...the taste is delightfully sweet and the bourbon warms all they down! It?s a sipper that makes me wish I could gulp...the bourbon is a strong presence and a bit over the top but not a problem.

Feb 2015 bottle vintage. Black oil, very brown foam. Aroma is bourbon and tannins. Taste - bitey oak, very boozey - whoah - rich and way too much for me. Palate is oily and finishes with some vanilla oak and booze. Nice but just too booze heavy.

@ Stordirren 15-10-21: Stor doft av choklad, burbon och havre. Smaken är stor och oljig med tydlig fyllighet med stora toner av choklad, vanilj, burbon och kaffe. Underbar len. Mycket gott

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Perfectly black, small beige head. Licorice, vanilla and brandy up front. Sweet with huge body and rounded mouthfeel. Intense flavour of fine slivovic, coffee syrup, madeira, vanilla and licorice. Heated raisiny finish. Retains balance, even with near infinite gravity.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, light vanilla and some caramel. Similar taste. Sweet and with a thick body. The finish was long and with well hidden alcohol. A nice one to sip.

Vanilla, bourbon, cocoa, smoke, tobacco flavors. A massive one. Smoother than the Bourbon Counties maybe. Coconut. Fantastic.
