COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacobís wash, weíve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! Itís in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Holy. Cow. Vanilla, bourbon goodness in every smell and sip. Syrupy and sticky texture. Very sweet, with the vanilla, coconut, and a little bite from the alcohol but not much, it's very well hidden. An amazing stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355 ML bottle Batch 1 2012 Black pour, settled black with hints of ruby. Light tan head that falls to a thin collar. Big time ABV legs and lots of residual oil left over. Nose develops over time. Roast, chocolate, caramel, tar, cigar box at first. With more air the barrel and bourbon take over. Lots of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, prune, and coconut. Alcohol is well tempered. Taste is amazing. Malted chocolate, bourbon, oak, caramel, vanilla, coconut, tar, and cigar. Slick, olly and full on to drink. ABV hits home in the mouth. So well balanced though.

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmkís place. 2014 bottle, 14.83%. Black with a nice brown head. Lovely aroma of bourbon, wood, lots of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast and some vanilla. Sweet flavor with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood, a fruity note and a slightly boozy finish. Great full thick mouthfeel.

"Wow - likely the best 15+% beer Iíve ever had or will have. Sweet from both the barreling and the abv, but not overly so. And not hot. Iím a fan of Mephistopheles, but this stout is in a whole nother class. Ridiculously good."

2013 vintage shared at first sunday. Deep rich and dark. Vanilla and roasty malt. Some chocolate flavors as well. Bourbon sweet and a bit of the rich chewy grain. The bourbon is still a little dominant here but the stout impression comes through well and adds complexity.

Bottle from a trade. Many thanks artmcd8! Shared with tderoeck and Erwin. Oily black colour, brown foam. Soft carbonation. Light roasted aroma with lots of bourbon and vanilla. Full body. Sweet with very light bitterness. Good but I like stouts more on the bitter side.
