COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thick black with little to no head, I poured very slowly as the oil thick fluid was fun to watch.. Aroma has notes of strong caramel, dark fruits (some raisins, dates, prunes), and big molasses notes, slight hint of bourbon but its fairly restrained, slight oak and alcohol. First sip very smooth, with tang of alcohol at the end. Very nice bourbon overtones with caramel, molasses and chocolate. Definitely not a session beer, will need to put some up for a year or two to see how the flavors come together. This almost as good as Goose Island Bourbon Stout in my opinion.

Pours jet black with a dense brown head. Nose: caramel roasted malts, chocolate brownie mix, latte or intensly sugared espresso. Taste: sweet roasted malts, vanilled oak and chocolate cake, slight prune and fruity molasses in the emidiate finnish. The aftertaste is full and rich with creamy chocolate, espresso and the mouthfeel on this masterfull brew is lightly carbonated. I found it very ’Avery’ and that aint bad. Tak Peter aka motherbrother!

Simply an unconscionable amount of alcohol. However, the palate is rich, lengthy, and only a bit slick. Oats, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, molasses, but all in balance and moderation. A little honey and stickiness on the finish.

Bourbon and chocolate aroma. Tan head with a lasting ring, no lacing. Soft creamy palate. Huge bourbon aftertaste. Overall very strong. All in all ok. Might be awesome after some aging.

Bottle @ ZEBF 2015. Aroma of booze and vanilla. Taste is sweet with vanilla, but mostly booze. Good, but somewhat one-sided.
