On tap at the brewery during the 23rd Anniversary Party. Hazy dark bronze color, with a medium, foamy, head. Massive bourbon notes, with some walnuts, brown sugar, oak, pine sap, and cinnamon. Sweet and boozy, with a nice mild bitterness. Heavy body, with a velvety, luxurious mouthfeel. This is a wonderfully complex, smooth, and balanced beer.

On draught at Acorn at The Source. The beer is a clear reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily to a sparse outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, dark fruit and malt. The finish is oaky with a whiskey and malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.

On tap at Avery. Brown and hazy, with a nice lasting head. Quite bourbony aroma, with some sweet malt. Malty, sweet taste with a strong, but still balanced bourbon taste.

Bourbon aroma up front, then candy sugar and dark fruits. Taste is candy sugar, dark fruit, vanilla, bourbon, woody. Sweet finish but not overly sweet. Has a tannic dryness from the wood almost which balances out the sweetness of the normal reverend. And the aging probably mellows it, but not as sweet as reverend and has some other great flavors that really add to the beer.  ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dickle Reverend version. Deep orange pour with deep red pour and an off white head. Deep dark fruit nose with layers of whiskey, vanilla and light esters. Med body with dark fruits, vanilla, oak, whiskey and light esters. Sweet finish with dark fruits and light whiskey.

On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2014. Pours a bit hazy orange appearance with a thin tan head. Black cherry, plum, and other dark fruit notes in the nose. Some whiskey in the flavor along with some banana and cherry notes. Ok but a bit too strong for my taste.

Orange-golden in color. Sweet, fruity aroma with a bit of whiskey aroma. Sweet and slightly tart with a malt finish. Notes: Brewery visit ’09 during the GABF

Dark gold foamy white head. Overwhelming whiskey flavors on the nose and taste. Tasty but too much whiskey for me.
