A: The pour is a dense, dark amber color, maybe mahogany, with a thin layer of off-white foam.
S: The whiskey notes on this beer stand out big time. Lots of oak and vanilla, too. The base doppelbock provides a lot of (flat) cola notes along with plums, raisins, and mildly tart cherries.
T: Seemingly just as much whiskey flavor to this beer. Vanilla, cherries, cola, plums, raisins, and sweet caramel malts to go along with that. Sort of like a whiskey and cherry coke cocktail.
M: The body is medium to full with a smooth, medium level of carbonation.
D: I’m often leery of barrel aged lagers. But I suppose at 10%, this doppelbock could hold up to the big whiskey flavors. This was really quite good.
