3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can from CBB, 490 yen or so. Gift to my wife at Nanten-en. Served in a tumbler. It pours a slightly cloudy straw gold pour with a thick foamy head & great lacing. Nice spicy Belgian nose, yeasty fruity lightly spiced with a dash of bubblegum. Medium bodied, spicy at first then fruity but kind of rough around the edges. Decent but could be better. Once it warmed up you get more hints of coriander & some orange zest in the nose & taste. Quite yeasty sweet. Pretty average, I’d rather get a belgian wit made in belgium which can be had more cheaply in Japan.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body under a small frothy white head. The nose is lightly spicy with a fair amount of coriander in particular. Nice wheat malt and a light yeastiness as well. The flavor is pretty coriander driven, so much so that if comes across as slightly soapy over the yeasty wheat malt base. Some lingering orange peel on the finish as well. Rather soft on the mouthfeel with very nice gentle carbonation. The spicing isn’t the best on this one, but it’s not terrible.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This ale brings just enough Belgian character to the nose and palate to tickle your senses without coming close to overwhelming them. Perfectly balanced and light enough to be sessionable. I always keep a few of these in the fridge.

From bottle. Light golden pour, lingering white head. Mild nose of candi sugar. Easy drinking: subtle light fruits of apricot and banana well-balanced with wheat.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle into a weizen glass; served cold.
Aroma: Lemon zest, grains of paradise, coriander. Mildly sour yeast.
Appearance: Hazy, bright lemon-yellow body, with a quickly dissipating, white head. Decent lacing.
Taste: Lemon and spices again. Citrus is the primary flavor, spice and mild malt are secondary, with fresh, mildly sour yeast.
Palate: Light bodied, but not watery at all. High prickly carbonation. Short finish, ends on spice.
Overall: Great citrus-forward wit with plenty of spice to round it out. Light, refreshing, but doesn’t sacrifice body or flavor.
