COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Mamba is a full bodied oatmeal stout that has tastes of toffee, chocolate, coffee, and smoothness from the addition of flaked oatmeal. We use generous amounts of crystal, black patent, roasted barley and chocolate malt which gives the stout a dark colour and a complex taste profile. The final step for Black Mamba is aging in the finest American bourbon barrels for several weeks. SRM 38

On draft at the brewery last June. Black pour. Slight bourbon and malt nose. Oak and bourbon gives way to roasted malt.

From a bomber. Just ok for a stout- and for Aviator for that matter. All the typical stout flavors and medium mouthfeel but pretty dank and hoppy for the style. Not much bourbon going on either. Think the Columbus hops are messing with my enjoyment of the stout style. Plenty of better stouts out there.

Cask. On tap at OH station. Black pour, creamy tan head. Aroma is cherry and hint of the bourbon. Tastes are pepper, chocolate, wood, molasses. Very little of the bourbon in the finish. OK. 7.0

Kosmokrator (471) - ITALY - DEC 30, 2013

Not too complex, plenty of barrel notes. A little thin on the palate. I seem to remember enjoying a bottle of this a year or 2 ago, but this draft is just OK. Ready to move on to the next beer.

From a bottle. The pour is a dark brown with a minimum brown head. The beer has a roasty, very sweet burobon, chocolate, coffee taste with a thin body which I find to throw this beer off compared to other BBA stouts.

Bottle. Pours black with minimal head. Aroma is mild roastiness, nothing like you would expect from a stout.Taste is just ash and maybe some roasted bitterness. But nothing else. not very good. No bourbon, vanilla, or anything else.

Bottle: Thanks Joes: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized creamy beige light brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of light bourbon, hay, some flowers and soap, liquorice and smooth chocolate, marzepin, gass, bay leave, rye and liquor tones. Flavours of bourbon, wood, bitters, roast, malt roast and bitters, cream, some vanilla, some smooth spices, some wood roast, chocolate, sweet tar and a hint if ash. Aftertaste is bitter, roasty, wood (roast), bourbon, some vanilla and spices. Low carbo, close to silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture.

Bomber into snifter glass, deep dark brown with dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, oak, chocolate and some vanilla. Taste adds notes of bitter coffee, caramel, slight nuttiness, dark chocolate and more tannic wood. Medium body, low carbonation, dry, astringent, creamy, rich with roasty wood finish. Pretty dry woody stout, overall pretty intense and flavorful for the ABV.
