3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml. Gusher, with chunks floating out on the bubbles. Looks like one of my early homebrew attempts. Nose is espresso with cream, char, vanilla, and piquant green herb. Taste has lots of bittersweet dark chocolate upfront. Later on some chalk, char, hints of citrus, herb and marshmallow start to round it out a bit. Long finish of wood and cocoa almost dominating. Medium-heavy body is sweetish, but is decently dried by the chalk and roast. Too much fizz and becomes airy in the mouth. This one has some promise, but a few technical difficulties to iron out.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2011 Count me in the "like" camp on this extremely roasty stout. If you strip it of the imperial label and judge it on the basis of a more traditional stout, it is solid with a roasty flavor and dry palate. Little or no depth. Tasty enough to drink again.

Gusher upon opening - seems to be partially infected. Dirty earth and dark roasted coffee aroma. Dry, bitter and lightly tart on the finish. Not good.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 cork and caged. Pours black with large lasting dark brown head. Aroma is kinda weak, reminscent of a milk stout. But the flavor is heavily roasted, with lots of milk chocolate and a bit of acidity. Very mild and silky and hides the abv very well. Nicely done, though more like a good stout than an imperial one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Warning, this oneís a gusher! Once it made its way into the glass, it looked great. Rich brown head, super dark brown beer. Nose and flavors of dark chocolate and a bit of burnt grain. It doesnít have the typically powerful flavors of an Imperial Stout, more like a good session stout. Thatís not all bad, since itís hiding the 8% well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber w/ cork top. Pours black with large tan head (bottle gushed some). Aroma is complex with coffee, chocolate, lots of roasted malts. Taste is similar, not bitter at all. Very smooth. Doesnít taste like 8%. Well done.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the CL Rosso release. Poured a deep dark brown with a smaller dense tan head. Aroma of freeze dried coffe, anise, licorice, burnt malts, and alcohol. Earthy flavors with notes of chocolate, grains, oats and licorice. The body is a little to thin for my taste. Not bad.
