Bomber w/ cork top. Pours black with large tan head (bottle gushed some). Aroma is complex with coffee, chocolate, lots of roasted malts. Taste is similar, not bitter at all. Very smooth. Doesn’t taste like 8%. Well done.

750 cork and caged. Pours black with large lasting dark brown head. Aroma is kinda weak, reminscent of a milk stout. But the flavor is heavily roasted, with lots of milk chocolate and a bit of acidity. Very mild and silky and hides the abv very well. Nicely done, though more like a good stout than an imperial one.

Bottle at Flying Saucer - Raleigh on 04/23/2010. Dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Big roast and chocolate aroma. Roast, chocolate and vanilla flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Growler. Pretty nice pour, dark black with two fingers of chestnut brown head. Nose shows some muted chocolate and coffee and mild roasty notes over a light sweetness. Flavor is pretty similar, not too terribly impressive but unoffensive. I think of this more as a strong stout than an imperial one.

Massive gusher. Cork self popped when left on table after removing outer seal. Black with tan head. Nose and taste of oatmeal, roasted malts, chocolate and coffee.

Bomber. Warning, this one’s a gusher! Once it made its way into the glass, it looked great. Rich brown head, super dark brown beer. Nose and flavors of dark chocolate and a bit of burnt grain. It doesn’t have the typically powerful flavors of an Imperial Stout, more like a good session stout. That’s not all bad, since it’s hiding the 8% well.

Bottle. Pours a black deep bruin body with a tan head, and thick lacing. Dark coffee notes, licorice, and caramel. Burnt malt tones, with a roast y bitterness and oatmeal body. Solid offering.

Bottle at the CL Rosso release. Poured a deep dark brown with a smaller dense tan head. Aroma of freeze dried coffe, anise, licorice, burnt malts, and alcohol. Earthy flavors with notes of chocolate, grains, oats and licorice. The body is a little to thin for my taste. Not bad.

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center Denver 16/09/2010 As King Rat Imperial Oatmeal Stout Roast aroma. Black a little rich on the palate and hoppy with a hint of dryness in a crisp and bitter burnt roast finish.
