First tasted this in the Fox & Hounds, Houston in March 1998. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Distinct malt on the short aroma and thin mouthfeel. Good alcing. Pale malts give moist maltloaf flavour with a redcurrant fruit tang. Slight hop resins give a short bitter aftertaste. Bitter sweet finish edging towards the malt. Typical Scottish export style. A good session ale.

Hazy orange brown beer with thin white head. Citrusy with wet cloth tones. Vanilla an soily flavor with big bitterness.

Bottled. My first impression of this beer was that it was very lively. It was quite easy to notice as half the beer shot out of the bottle like a spirit trapped for centuries. The remaining beer, which was not on my floor, was nut brown and had a flowery nose. It was dry and roasty with sparkling mouthfeel and nice bitter finish.
