Tap at the brewery. Pours clear brown with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, dates, earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2014 Taproom, draft pours brown with red hues. Little white head. Aroma of fruit, clove, sour, caramel. Taste is clove, toasty, definite tartness. Light body with sweet/sour finish. Not sure if they meant this to be a sour brown or not

Nero55 (487) - Leeds, Alabama, USA - FEB 21, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2014 Draft at Taproom. Pours dark brown in color with small tan head. Aroma of caramel and malt sweetness. Medium body with malt sweetness and notes of toasted malts with a slightly sour finish.-- More sourness on both aroma and flavor this time around. Not sure if it is meant to be this sour. Reminds me of their Oud Bruin.

Nice malty aroma, slightly tart and malty sweet at the same time. I understand from their website that this tartness is intentional. Considering that this is a very unique beverage. The tartness is remarkably refreshing amongst a lot of Belgian Dubbel like flavors. Still takes some getting used to though.

Ibrew2or3 (6530) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 2, 2012
Poured up on tap at GABF 2012 with a clear amber body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma is sort of a earthy and malty and nutty and roasty and interesting actually. It seems to pick up a bit of a smoky note with a bigger draw. The taste is a little roasty and estery and then it picks up a bit of spicy hops to earthy hops to an almost wet cigar leaf note. This is an interesting brown ale for sure.

Taste a bit sour not greAt. Mild not enjoyable watery. What is this a mistake. Yes just like going to a brothel. Cheap and nasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy copper color, tan head. Sweet, acidic, yeast scent, also smoke. Sweet fruity taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Hazy, cola brown, not much head. Creosote and yeast aroma. Twangy, Belgian notes, light roast. Chalky, coffee mouth. Lightly sweet? This was a mishmash -- too sour for a brown. Taproom.
