Avondale Brewing Company’s historic building was once a watering hole known as the Long Branch Saloon. A favorite spot for locals and travelers alike, the Long Branch Saloon saw it’s share of friendly drinkers and poker games as well as a few gristly shootouts.

The Long Branch Scottish is an Americanized 80 Shilling Scottish Ale. The appearance is a slightly dark shade of brown and the nose is filled with roasted and bready malt. This brew is malt forward with dominate caramel notes backed by a light hop bitterness. A very clean, crisp malt character that leaves hints of roast and smoke that dissipates to a very clean and enjoyable finish.

Dark deep nutty brown with a thin carbonated light tan cap. Nutty and sweet with notes of earthy cara-cocoa and dry toast. Smooth and earthy flavor with a peaty-sweet nutty flavor thats got dark toffee and a bit of smoke, A bit light and a bit too earthy, but somewhat pleasant.

Draft. Poured dark brown with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma was dark, toasty malt and some floral, grassy hops. Flavor is toasted malt, chocolate. Moderately sweet, low bitterness. Medium palate. Not bad really; just pretty simple.
