Not getting much of the vanilla on the tongue. I do get the a bit of a smoky chocolate quality. Finishes clean. Solid!

A downright impressive porter! I’m always skeptical of porters that have flavorings in the description, but this one nails it. The "Vanillaphant" as it has been termed, is always my go-to beer when I stop in the tap room. Additionally, it is one of the best dark beers that J Clyde offers.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this growler. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is full of vanilla and chocolate. The flavor is similar with a few added notes including roasted malt, sugar and light smoke. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Probably one of my favorite beers at the moment. Had it from the tap at Avondale. Rich flavor with a dark appearance with a tannish head. Tremendous taste, and I usually do not prefer Porters.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of vanilla, lactose, chocolate, graham cracker, and roasted sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt with roast and vanilla in the finish. Some roasted coffee and nuts too. A touch sweet but it’s good and has a complex flavor profile for a porter. Good stuff!

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Dark brownish-amber color with a medium beige head and a top ring of lacing. Aroma of vanilla and roasted malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of cocoa, slightly stale malt and a bit of coffee. The finish is short and chocolatey. Slightly above overall.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2012 Growler from liquor express - pours dark with a tan head. Aroma is toasty malty. Taste is bitter. Overall, I’m not getting the vanilla, which is disappointing. Average, I guess. Updated tap at J Clyde’s - I’m getting more of the vanilla and less of the bitterness. I like it more, in glass than from plastic growler.
