Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

The aroma on this beer is weak. There is some perceptible malt but overall it is the one weak point in the beer. The beer is wonderful in the mouth. Light yet some malt sweetness. The balance is also observed in the taste which is well balanced between good caramel malt and fine noble hops.

Bottle from Beer Store Malvern. Thick roasted malts, oak, chocolate, coffee grinds, plum. Balanced malted goodness. Starts out like a standard dunkel but eventually it becomes pretty obvious this is a special brew.

Dark brown colour with light brown head. Aroma od roasted malted barley plums, with coffee notes. Low carbonation, well balanced bitterness, with sweet fruity finish. For sure one of the best dunkel beers.

I have definitely never had a dunkel this good before. Didn’t even know they could be this good. Like the perfect session beer. A hint of roast and nice crisp barley. Pours dark brown with good creamy head and lacing. Crisp and light bitter finish. Wonderful balance and full of flavor. Thick consistency. Near perfect German beer. Bottle.

Another old type beer from Ayinger. In old type good bottle of 0,5 l. Everything is nice with this beer. Mahogany colour, clear. Moderate top, beige. Dark bread notes, some caramel sweetness in the middle of bitterness. Buttery, nutty and little bit smoky, too. High standard in it;s class.

Pours dark amber with moderate off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, plums. Tastes sweet up front, complex malts to follow, notes of coffee, and ends with nice noble hop bitterness. Light bodied and medium carbonation. Beautiful dunkel, my favorite in the class, but don't drink it too cold for full effect. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the Trank in Munich. Glowing orange-brown, clear. Tall, foamy tanhead. No bubbles. Nose of toffee, a bit burnt, raisins. Very creamy, some vanilla even. Lots of slightly burnt toffee and brown sugar, prune and raisin, some orange. Silky and smooth, not heavy, with just a touch of carbonation. This burnt flavor is not for me, but this is a great dunkel. Nice little peppery bitterness.
