Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Sweet malty aroma and flavor. Fits style perfectly. Well balanced not too cloying. Some chocolate malt notes come through in the taste. Another good beer by Ayinger. That’s why they are one of Germany’s best!

Bottle at Pivopija beer store in Novi Beograd-Serbia with markoijelena. Pours cola filtered color, small off white head going down fast. Nose: smoked feel, cheese (light), roasted malts. Mouth: high carbonation, malty but a bit too thin. Meh! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle into mug. Minneapolis. Pours deep brown with amber tint. Quality off white head. Surprisingly transparent. Aroma is caramely, toasted malt, prune, brown sugar. Taste is quite sweet. Super subtle bitterness in the finish. Still manages to be balanced. Body is medium. frothy mouthfeel. Fairly long finish. Pretty high quality beer.

Flaska @ NK Ölbaren. Kopparröd klar vätska med halvmörk skumkrona. Lätt karamellig doft med inslag av dadlar. Stram neutral beska med ett diskret bärigt avslut.

Bottle into a glass. Pours a light brown with a tan head. Caramel on the nose. Light, refreshing mouthfeel. Tastes of caramel, toffee, and a hint of ripe dark fruit. Loved it.

Bittermäinen haju. Vähän savuakin jossain. Vähän löysä, mutta aivan mukava juotava. Tyypillinen illan alku.

Yksi parhaiten onnistuneista maistamistani müncheniläistyylisistä dunkeleista ja henkilökohtainen suosikkini. Mahtava tasapaino.

Chocolate, nutty, grassy, bready grains dominate the nose. Lovely deep mahogany brown/red with thin off-white head. More caramel sweetness comes out in the flavor which is joined by the aroma compounds above as well as an accentuated grainy maltiness. I get a grainy almost grassy flavor on the finish. Maltiness lingers a bit but very clean flavor, smooth, clean finish with perfect balance of bitterness to sweetness. It’s proof that beer doesn’t have to punch you in the face to be impressive.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2015 500 ml bottle from Cost Plus. Dark, dark brown. Shows signs of clarity with a big, off-white head. Good lacing. Nose of toasty, fruity malt and yeast. Flavors of bread crust and light caramel with hints of dark fruit, plum and touch of raisin. Hops are hardly noticeable, maybe a touch of grassy spiciness. Residual sweetness produces a fairly heavy body feel. Finishes semi-sweet. All in all, an easy drinking lager beer with loads of flavor.
