UPDATED: FEB 27, 2014 Dark brown, slightly transparent. Big, 2 finger frothy white head that dissipates quickly. Some carbonation and very little lacing. Subtle coffee undertones with a slight amount of grain and caramel malts. Mouth has a lot of malt, and sweet caramel. Some coffee is present which gives it a slight bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours mostly clear birch beer brown with a foamy tanned white head that settles to nice full coverage. Aroma is baking bread and malts with a touch of roastiness. Taste is malts all the way - bready and roasted with a bit of chocolate and plum. The finish bringing a little bitterness. Crisp and slick in the mouth, with some carbonation. Not overly sweet. Ayinger seems to nail every classic German style.
